Grand Rapids leads Duluth East 5-0 in the bottom of the 2nd.
The game will be resumed tomorrow at 1 p.m.
It will be interesting to see if Rapids sends Gabe Wood back out to the mound when it resumes or if they send someone else out to save the arm.
On a side note, Chaska pitcher Brad Hand was drafted in the third round by the Florida Marlins today.

Grand Rapids 7
Cambridge 2
Grand Rapids forces a true title game with Cambridge tonight at 7 p.m.
Can the Thunderhawks win their third of the day and sneak through the back door down to Midway Stadium?
Gabe Wood absolutely gutted it out without his best stuff.
Grand Rapids is eating in the Vikings locker room as we speak and they will get ready to get at it one more time with Cambridge in the Metrodome here in about a half an hour.
Grand Rapids moves to 23-2 on the season while Cambridge falls to 22-2.
Winner of the next game will get Brad Hand and Chaska in the first round of the state tournament.

In the
Vikings' locker room?? Hopefully the Vikes "tradition" won't wear off. Good luck to the Indians.

Cambridge 4
Incredible.
Grand Rapids wins three games in one day to advance to the AAA state tournament. They will face Brad Hand and the Chaska Hawks at Midway Stadium on Thursday.
Eric Hovet came up huge on the mound for Grand Rapids as they improve to 24-2 on the season. Congrats boys!

Glad to see Grand Rapids make it. The tournament will now have the top 2 ranked teams in it.
Jefferson vs. Rosemount
St. Michael vs. #2 John Marshall
Coon Rapids or Blaine vs. #10 Woodbury
#1 Grand Rapids vs. Chaska
Coon Rapids was the #9 seed, Blaine the #11. Grand Rapids has a tough draw, Chaska is very good and can pitch. John Marshall can pitch and hit, Jefferson beat Chaska twice. Hopefully the weather is good and they get the tournament in....unlike golf.

This would be an
outstanding state hockey tournament field because something is missing... hmmm... What could it be?!
GR will have to deal with that Hand kid from Chaska right off the bat, huh? With run totals I've seen GR put up in here, that might be a game worth checking out.

Minnesota Scores lists that game as Coon Rapids vs. Stillwater.

It is Stillwater instead of Woodbury. I know that comes as a shock but the Ponies are Section 4AAA Champions.

Noboby who followed HS ball this extended winter is shocked.
Any one of the top 4 seeds would not have been a surprise.

If GR can get by Hand, I think they have a great shot at winning the whole thing. That is a big IF though. This should be a great game, could be the game of the tourney.
Watch out for Rosemount though, they finished bottom half of a very tough Lake Conf, but are extremely hot in coming through a very difficult section unbeaten (Eastview, Lakeville North and Burnsville). Good luck to all of the teams!

Some of these games had live video streams last year.
Can't think of the website.
Govs?
It was the one that used to do some hockey games too, but then started charging money...

None of the usual web carriers have it as far as I can tell... I checked Crystal Clear Sports, Minnesota Sports Broadcast Network, Grand Stadium.tv (not sure they ever really had anything anyway), and B2TV.... nothing.

I think Chaska is holding Hand for the second game. John Straka, an NDSU commit, will probably pitch against Grand Rapids. This is according to the catcher that catches Straka, because Straka catches Hand.

Why would a team not throw their top guy in the first game of the State Tourny against the #1 ranked team in the state? Are they taking GR that lightly or what? Cambridge found out what happens when you do that. Wonder if the players and fans are still dancing around home plate like they did after beating GR in their first matchup?

No matter who pitches, it promises to be a good high school baseball game.
Weather permitting of course

It would be a very unorthodox to not go with your best pitcher in a single elimination tournament.
If you do that, you might be saving your best pitcher and a 2nd round MLB draft choice for the consolation round.
I dont think so.

Just heard from someone who works for MSBN, said they carried them last year without sufficient sponsorship and are not going to do it again. Too bad.

John Marshall didn't go with their top pitcher this morning, it's not that unusual to hold your top guy out in the first game.
Also Chaska has 2 guys that are really good, a third is at Cretin or they'd be nearly unhittable.

Why would you do that?
