Doc DelCastillo is in the running for the Warrior head coaching job, and director of hockey operations for BAHA. 8)

I certainly hope that BAHA doesn 't make the same mistake twice and have the HS coach also be the BAHA director. Each program deserves to have someone's who has the time to solely focus on each individual program. Are there and any other HS head coaches around the state who also double as the youth hockey director?

Rumor has is that Bryan Henrichs (former Brainerd Bantam A coach) has applied for the Brainerd job. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, he is definitely the best man for the job and he would be who most of the parents/players would support.

Haven't seen or heard from Bryan since end of men's league and would like to see him take over but, my gut says this is a rumor.

Doc has applied, Craig Larson has applied and Mr.Archibald.

Byran Henrichs has not and is not going to apply ( which is too bad).

That's a shame that Henry isn't applying. He's the best coach that BAHA ever had. The current team will be very disappointed to hear that. I know that Archibald played for the Sioux/NHL and has coached at the youth level in Canada. I hope they give him a good look.

Any word on the Bemidji assistant position?

I think that was Tim Guyer running the GW team in GR this weekend. Word I got was that the GW Coaching job was down to two finalists. Jeff Antonivich and an unnamed candidate. This was strictly bar talk though.

Jim Archibald was hired as Brainerd's new highschool coach just recently. Hopefully this Sioux hall of famer can do some good things for this program in the near future.

Chris Lonke was recently hired at New Prague. He was the coach at Simley for a while, where he got coach of the year for class A. What does everyone think, is he right for the job?

Lonke is a heck of a coach. Highly organized, knows the game, and a really good guy. He assisted at Hamline last year after coaching Simley for many years, including their trip to State. I'll bet he will stay in New Prague for many years, and should make them a legitimate force in class A. He's a fantastic hire... hopefully they also gave him a teaching job.

Faribault hires Brad Ryan as its new boys hockey coach. This is a great hire for Faribault. Hopefully he can stay around longer than the previous coach.

Oh my.

Boy does this bring back memories. As Badgers, we could not stand this guy. The words "goon" and "Archibald" were seldom far apart in a sentence. To this day, I know people who STILL hold a grudge.

That said, I'm sure he's a nice guy and will be a great coach. I wish him luck.

He will do a good job with the kids, turn the program around, i don't think so, he will still be watched and critiqued behind his back by the usual couple guys in the lobby windows. The program that failed was the youth program which was not taken care of about 5 or 6 years ago, which is a shame, gernander had a great program in place when he left. Good luck to Jeff.

Greenways last chance

you are right Jeff will only be aloud to take the program as far a Pat Guyer would like. Greenway has died under the decisions of Pat and his group of buddies. The only chance this program has is to have Pat do his job and schedule practice, clean the arena, and actually start doing the role of rec director, develop rec programs and let the hockey program try and catch up with the rest of the world. His only passion was when his kids played and thats it otherwise its whatever is easiest for him, not what gives every kid a GREAT experience. I hope Jeff is given the ability to run it HIS way and not just be a yes man for Pat. This is the last chance for Grenway if this fails it over! Jeff is the right man if given the control.

Best of Luck to Jeff!!! Hopefully Pat will keep his nose out off of his back.....

Jeff was the right pick for sure. As long as the AD lets the young man bring the program back and infuse his youthful energy back into the program the Greenway youth and high school program will rise from where it is currently. Jeff's logistical problem will be in finding enough youth coaches to cover each level long term. The kid is a class act and deserves to be left alone. You got to allow him to have a stake in that youth program to get the numbers back and grow the program. Finally some good news for the folks.

According to todays St. Paul Pioneer Press:

Apple Valley-based Eastview High School has selected Drew Bradley as its boys hockey coach and David Herem as its girls soccer coach.
His name is Drey not Drew - wasn't he head coach at Eastview last year?

No word on Sibley yet? It's getting pretty late and school is right around the corner. Maybe one of the existing staff will be taking over?
