what better way for the mhd coaches to evaluate players then to match them up against the best. THey could stay in moorhead and play associations from around the area and pick kids who play well in those situations or they can go to the cities and pick kids that want to compete against the best. They invite us down there each year knowing that we just started tryouts.

I'am happy to see a coach look at big picture. It's how your team is playing in the end that counts. Good luck to your team.

The Elk River and Grand Rapids was a very close game and booth teams were putting it all on the line very impressive for beginning of the season. One thing i didnt like about this game was the amount of bad penaltys called on both teams!!!!!

Elk River 1 Grand Rapids 1
Elk River 10 Proctor 2
Elk River 2 Cloquet 2
Elk River 4 Hermantown 1
I think Hermantown was the best of these "northern teams.". ER outshot Cloquet 3-1, but just couldn't finish. Grand Rapids is solid, but not as good as people have them ranked,3-5th in the state, no way. Hermantown is big and fast and should have a good season.

Not sure how rapids isnt better then hermantown when they beat them by around three or four. And rapids tied elk river and controlled most of the game. And Hermantown lost to elk river by 3

I disagree that Grand Rapids controlled the game against Elk River. The shots were 28-27. Elk River scored on PK and GR scored on PP. Very evenly played game. It's my opinion and most of the other parents I spoke that went on the northern trip, that Hermantown was the best team we played. Sorry if it hurt your feelings.

Hall of Fame Tournament
3rd place
Eastview-1
Andover-1
Championship
Blaine-4
Mpls/Park-2
Mpls/Park controlled most of the game but spent most of the third period in the penalty box which killed them

peanutbutter,
when you put it like that, makes perfect sense, good luck Moorhead selecting your team.
Good hockey this weekend, I would have to say that there are easily 6 or 7 teams I watched that could all compete with each other.

Doesnt hurt my feelings just trying to say something that i dont get how Hermantown can be better then Rapids. When Rapids beat them by three or four when Rapids was still in tryouts. Plus Rapids tied Elk River and Elk River beat Hermantown.

So was rapids.
We will all just have to wait to see if Rapids and Hermantown play in regular season

i agree, it would be great to keep this string free of the back and forth debating that usually degenerates into "yo' momma" sniping.
scores with some game details would be best.

Chaska 1
Chaska has speed but AV played good defense. Chaska goalie was vulnerable on high shots.

rosemount 7
como 2
rosemount is physically strong with a lot athletes. this team will improve a lot this season. como has a lot of spunk, 9 first year bantams and only 11 skaters, there should be a lot of improvement there too.
