So blanco would the transfer rule not apply to him because he lives in the school district?
blanco oso wrote:alright first of all.
as dumb as the "we dont need him" chant sounded, it was more implying, we could beat MV with our jv team...not so much as a we dont need him on our team to win.
second of all
word on the street is he is going BACK to moundsview. who knows why? only god, and ryan wolter. ive heard more people say he isnt even sure what hes doing as well, but he is talking about leaving WB next year which would be a bad move to the WB program on his part since they gave him a spot on a very good team AND the assistant captain position and to leave would be a(taking terms lighty)bad move.
third of all
who cares right now. i think wb should be thinking about the hill game while they still have the kid on the team for sure! maybe once the seasons over or next year rolls around but come on...we need to focus on play the hill-murray smokies. r, i mean, the hill-murray pioneers.

I didn't know he could do that. Also don't think that would be a very smart thing to do. It would be really tough for him when the hockey season rolls around I'm sure the students would be all over him. I'll say this, if he does come back you better watch out for MV next year. With all the WBL posters on here no body knows anything about this. Where is Goldy, wbmd, blonco come on guys you must have heard something over there, my guess is we might see him in green next year!
All I know is that Ryan is on the USHL '92 draft list. In my opinion, Ryan took the year too lightly. In watching captain's practices, he appeared to come into camp a bit out of shape, but moreso, he almost appeared like a veteran baseball player, just in camp to work on a few things... stick handling moves, etc., not get ready for the season.

His leg injury prior to the first Mounds Vew meeting set him back... He WAS starting to skate better, prior to that. And I think, he's had it tweaked here and there and has battled thru the soreness all season long.

I have only spoken to him a couple times off the ice, with his injury situation, and all I know he is a pretty damn likable young man.

I also thought he skated his best, most consistent game of the year vs MV this last game, and I started to see the player that is touted a USHL draft prospect.

In fairness to Ryan, Birki and Wahlin just have an extra gear, and longtime chemistry, and he gets lost in the shuffle. I certainly don't think it's his lack of skills.

Now.... it just makes me curious as to HOW the MV student section started the chant to begin with, that Ryan was leaving, because, obviously, someone over there must have the information, or it never would have been brought up.

I also believe that, since he's on the USHL draft list, they know he HAS the ability, and it may be a situation that in order for him to get his game back, he has to move on, and a couple years of juniors would benefit him.

I am not trying to speak for him, but when you don't live in WBL, and you live in MV, there really isn't much allegiance to WBL, and if he was just using WBL as a stepping ground to get to juniors or college, why would he come back next year, if he had the chance to leave?

It's one thing if you grow up with all your buddies, spend 11 years with some kids, and then it's that tough decision to graduate with your pals or leave, I would always live out my HS years. Ryan has been with these kids for just two years.

I would hate to see him leave... Like I said, I think he's a pretty likable kid, but I am not in the locker room.
he has actually been playing with some of these kids for many years on the cheifs... just an fyi

Our program is so far backwards it is scary. Half of the locker room wants to revolt the other half wanted it to end.
I don't think anyone is arguing just wondering where he is going. I'm not to sure he would be ineligible? If he is having problems at school there could be a good possiblity he is leaving. It would be a bit surprising to see him come back at MV. MV could be scary next year and add him to that.! WOW
So what is the answer to getting things turned in the right direction for this program? Why don't a lot of these guys want to play?
add him to that and you would have like three more goals cause thats all he has contributed for WBL this year.

ya ok he's had a little bit of an off year... but he is a huge playmaker and i think his 15 assists prove that.. you have no idea what you are talkin about

i have watched him all of his high school career, i know what i am talking about. He is a good player, fast, strong smart. He was huge last year, but i dontk now where it went. the reason he has so many assists is becuase his linemates can score like no other.

There is no doubt that Ryan wasn't healthy this year. When he is healthy he is a 25-30 point player and maybe more. He would be one of their top scorers next season. If he does leave WBL that will be missed. Even though the people around the team might not want to admitt to that. It is tough to replace that type of production. He will make MV a better team right away and should make a good battle between the two teams next year.

he plays with birkinbine and wallin. that would explain why the kid didnt get as many points. and i know birki and wallin love playing with wolter. i dont think his injury had much to do with anything.
and i dont know how many times i have to say that the chant was more directed as a, "we dont need him to beat you scrubs" and not a "we dont need him on our team"
and as for the transfer rule i tihnk he would be able to play with mv because he lives in the district yes...

You're wrong, his parents would need to change residencies within the MV school district (actually I think they have open enrollment, correct me if I'm wrong). Otherwise, he would be ineligible for one calendar year.

And GOLDFISH- Matt Pasma and Tony Villneauve are still listed on the USHL 91' draft list, showing the significance (or lack there of) of that list of players.

ovech 7 - Could you explain why they would need to change residencies if they already live in the MV school district? Not saying your wrong just don't understand that. My other thought is if word on the street is he will be attending MV I'm sure the parents have done what they need to as far as making sure he is eligible to continue playing hockey next year for MV.
