I know it is early, but it looks like Luverne and Hutchinson will be the teams to beat this year, with New Ulm in the mix as well. But some of these teams may run into trouble at the goaltending position down the stretch. I would love to see a Luverne/Hutchinson game this year. Too bad Hutchinson refuses to drive down to Luverne......

My understanding was Hutch really wanted to play Luverne this year, and reluctantly let them off the schedule. This was necessary to Schedule HDM and Totino. After the Lopsided games last year between the two it was a no brainer. Looks like Hutch is for real this year. It would have undoubtedly been a better game (maybe). :D

Im interested to see how New Ulm handles Marshall tomorrow. Murphy's law (google it Bettman, its worth a google) was very evident for Luverne last night. As was expected in a rivalry game. Luverne Missing a top 3 Defenseman almost bit them hard last night. The JAZ line really bailed them out last night with 10 combined points.

hawkenjonny wrote:If rolling 1-4 evenly for the last period or two of an obvious blowout is what is being down down in Cardville, then last year those lines must have been insanely uneven given the number of blowout games and goals scored by lines one and two compared to three. Obviously the top two lines are expected to score more, but the difference was unreal. Hopefully the teams that are in this situation will get some more balanced scoring because to be competitive with better teams, you need more than just two lines that can function. Hard to argue with those that claim it is just stats padding Herb because that is sure how it LOOKS. Didn't watch so don't claim to know, just looking at numbers. Glad to hear if running all lines equally when the situation warrants it.
Or just one line.

=D> =D> =D> I am sure the head man down there is aware that one high scoring line will only get you so far, and in most sections not to the X. Better find some scoring from another line. Although, if lines 2 and 3 can keep the opposition from scoring like they have been doing, that might do it to. The goals against numbers are low, but then so are the shots allowed. Goaltending percentages nothing to write home about, but haven't needed to be as of yet. Keep rolling.

Hey guys let's remember St. Paul Academy hasn't played anyone yet either this year! Will be tested on Thursday night...

Mahtomedi on Thursday

Luverne on Saturday

Hope they can stay in the top 20 we will see!

Just perusing the schedules of a couple section teams, I don't think anyone has a tougher stretch of games than LDC's second half of January.
#8 Orono
#12 Delano
#15AA Holy Family
#7 New Prague

Now if Luverne had this schedule, and they win these games, the Cardinal Nation would probably get some of the respect they think they deserve.

In their defense, Luverne does have more nationally televised games than Litchfield does in the second half of January.

You should of seen the Timeout and Goalie being pulled by Redwood at the end of the game down 7 rip. It was the cutest EVER!

Anthony, they were happy the first line didn't play 15 minutes of the 3rd period of a game in running time! They are trying to build too!

SPA is down this year. All 9th and 10th graders. Nice young talent, but nothing dominating.

And Totino is off to a rough start. Good shot at 25-0 again, especially not moving up in Schwans

Final was 4-3 Marshall in overtime. 2-1 NU after the first, 2-2 after the second. Marshall went up 3-2 early in the third, NU answered quickly to make it 3-3. Back and forth the rest. Good game by both squads, action at both ends, both goalies saved the game more than once, both teams hit pipes, etc.
