Yep. Grand Rapids throttled CEC the lat game of the regular season lat year I Grand Rapids. Then CEC outed by Duluth Marshall in QFinals in a game at Cloquet. Let’s see what the new regime brings this year. A lot of success in youth hockey doesn’t always translate to high school. I’m learning this the hard way.

Your right; BUT one also would have to think that with the right coach they would still have a lot of success. Say the coach who was on the bench when that group had success in the youth levels.

Good luck to Walters and his crew. I hope the kids play hard and have a lot of success.

The 7AA talk is going to pe painfully sliw and painfull with the Grand Rapids Indians fan base chirping away on the forum. Since I’m the only Cloquet diehard, who admits it, and Duluth East fans are many, but they don’t chirp nearly as loud as Rapids diehards. And elk and Andover diehards don’t exist on this forum , or participate anyway. I’m looking forward to the Orange team to be dominant again and to spice things up in here. I feel like I’m in a nursing home. Hey Rapids diehards.....how long before your orange team relevant again? I’m assuming it won’t be long.

Not only has CEC lost Stoyanoff for the season, but also Thomas Porter. 2 very skilled, big defensemen. And both seniors. 😕. Both played AA youth hockey throughout.

They had a very good bantam team last year. This year YHH has em ranked #4. My guess is next season and the following 2-3 seasons should be back to contention for a Section title.

Hey DJ I was thinking the same until I looked at the losses and from my bench it appears they lost to far too many legitimate teams they will face at HS level. Was a bit disconcerting as the W-L is overall impressive. I like the battle testing despite key losses to the big guns of MN hockey.
Glad they still don't shy away from competing =D>

Hearing a new goalie at Andover could be the real deal and that he will get a lot of the starts. Hearing from Andover dad that there are a lot of questions into the current goaltending situation and some of it involves Off ice issues? Anyone know what they mean by that? Was thinking they were pretty set before hearing that.

Frits is into heavy metal music and dark clothing, but I don’t think it’s anything to get all worked up about (I know you’re just the messenger 612). Have to assume the coaching staff is just hoping to get a younger goalie some experience throughout the year. Especially if he’s that good.

It’s not like Andover’s schedule is exactly a murderer’s row, particularly the cross-division conference games. So there will be plenty of time to give Fritz some rest and keep him fresh for the critical games. I’m sure the new goalie will be looking to start a certain conference game!

I like the Huskies coach. Being a D10 guy from Blaine - you get to know a lot of the names over the years and Manney seems to be the right guy for the squad. I still think it’ll be tough to overcome the depth that DE has. DE’s only question mark is in net. They might be fine, but in crunch time, will one of their boys steal a game if needed?

I don’t know anything about the new kid, but never hurts to have two good goalies lol!

Josie got the win. 6-4, stopped 31 shots. Well done! Maddie would be proud!

(Skylar Vetter for Lakeville North next year?)

I predict CEC looses 10 games this year and falls out of favor with the top 20 during the regular season. But, they wil be a serious threat in the section playoffs.

Not a hex just a diehard purple CEC fan lookin at the positives. 15-8 the rest of the way is pretty good. Get a top 4 seed, learned from our season ups and downs, and be healthy and rolling when playoffs hit. Not like last years flippin debockle at Grand Rapids the last game of the year. I left after 2 periods in that mess. But for better or worse, I bleed purple.

Watching Rapids the other night I got a hunch they might just upset somebody down the line this season. Not overly gifted with scoring but a pesky bunch up front, solid D and good goalie that can and will steal a game.

Hmmm. Seeing Grand Rapids results/effort vs. BSM today. I sure don’t want to see the Orange in the QFinals this year. A great group of sophomores have moved into high school, and they’ve got the goaltending.

That would be a hell of a run for Cloquet to pull that off. I wouldn't hold your breath on it; they need to find someone who can put the puck in the net, and people to handle the puck in their D zone.
