National Hockey Center (St Cloud) those coach bus rides are nothing for the Hounds

is the LOGICAL neutral site, at least bi-annually. WDIO might even have broadcast trucks they could drive up there
Even with the renovation, the NHC can't hold a candle to Amsoil. Plus, who WANTS to be in St. Cloud compared to Duluth...
Jeez DJ...we’re not taking about going to Gradma’s for pre-game and sitting in theater style seats

And the drive on 169S to 23W can’t be any worse than highway 2
If the Final ever moved to St. Cloud it would be devastating. Like canceling a trip to Disneyland for a 6 year old because the family is going to the Itasca County Fair instead.

You guys complaining about homefield advantage for DE, check out the unfairness of 6A.

And that home ice advantage wasn't a problem for Trent Klatt and co. Bottom line is play better and be more determined to win than your opponent.

As much as they whine about riding in a warm bus to play a section final in a hockey palace, yeah...I do wonder.

I'm tapping out of this conversation. Thought it would be constructive not bashing everyone who has a different opinion
Good luck DE next week (and all the other teams that made it)

Just pop in that tape of the 2008 semifinal at the DECC...that should bring you back to earth...in your comfy recliner

"Correction Ricky Lyle played the Section Tourney of his life. 8G5A on both ends of two of the best back door passes all season and hits that will scare any team they play next weekend."
This is awesome and so true. When talking to my son about the game after he played against him he said "that Ricky Lyle due is scary" I asked why and his response was " Have you seen him, he looks scary (meaning the look on his face) and hits everything he is close to HARD"

Rapids drives a hour and a half and does just fine after Rapids upgraded the schedule if you want to beat the best coach in high school history up the schedule like east does you have to be tested 80% of the schedule to be ready Andover’s schedule is weak at times plus didn’t east almost beat Andover in Andover. Is there an advantage a little not much the only advantage is if it was played somewhere else like Hibbing like it used to be East would not get the fans they do , Rapids would have the arena packed 4-1 fan base wise but Rapids travels very well with fans. Either way if you played that game it in St. Cloud east still wins and until a southern team can show they can win convincingly like east it’s a northern section.

None that I know of, which is where I started on this topic as to why it will never move.... TV Contract.

I remember watching the section finals on TV since the early 90s or so, before I even went to East.
It definitely is a pretty cool thing to have high schools on TV before you even get to State, in both classes.
Anyone have any friends at WDIO? Would be interesting to see the viewership

Speaking of tv finals....
Is there anyway I can get my hands on a section final from 1995?
East - Rapids
Spehar - Miscovich

Sounds like heckofa game as usual, although the Greenway upset was even better !
For first time in many years ,
i went to Aldrich for 5AA instead of watching 7AA stream. That was a great one this year .
The 7 drama is incredible every year
What was attendance ?
If Htown moves up, then move Andover and Elk out of 7AA , so can quit hearing complaints about home ice and north/south

.
Is Karl now going to close the Hate Hermantown thread ?
Well done Section 7!
See bolded above, not picking on westy, but seems like you are more then a casual fan to me. Watch stream, why wouldn't you drive up to Duluth? No need to answer.

What would happen if they moved the 7AA final to the X? DJ would be happy because it is a better arena and all the northern fans would keep their mouths shut because the game is played on the ice right?
Seriously I always root for northern teams but some of the arguments made for keeping it at Amsoil are just ridiculous. The game should be at a neutral site. In games where the margin of error is razor thin any small advantage can be the difference. To deny that is just not logical and shows clouded judgement.
Also, the game should be about what is fair and equitable to the kids. NOT the best fan experience.
This is from an outsider with no horse in the race. Easy call.
In section 8 if Roseau had to play a section final against Bemidji at Sanford or Moorhead at Scheels Arena I would be disappointed too.

And what about hill playing ALL their section games at home, once again great atmosphere but is it fair to the other schools? At least move the final somewhere else.

I agree with you totally 7 times everyone does unless you’re from Duluth or DJ but the only thing cool about wining in the dog pound is hoisting That trophy in there backyard

definitely makes that ride home that much sweeter when everyone is honking the horn in a 7 mile long convoy

but when we lose it’s definitely the trail of tears

lol I just know and everyone around town knows it’s staying in Duluth. The only reason I said what I said in my previous post is because we just learned to deal with it... doesn’t mean it’s right though.

Just to be clear, I'm a closet DE fan and glad they won, but I do agree that there should be some fairness in the venue.

Maybe an idea is they should alternate the site of the 7AA final each year between Duluth and St.Cloud just like they did back in the mid to late 90's when Duluth and Grand Rapids(occasionally Hibbing as well) would take turns hosting each year?

Would love to make that 7AA final trip every year, but, unlike my good friend 59 who is much much younger and seems to go up weekly to Twin Ports, making the run to my hometown is not as easy as it once was. Feel fortunate I am still able to cover the far corners of the metro each week! And much thanks to Kniven for the 7AA streaming before WDIO finally decided to get on board.

How about 4AA. HM gets to play on the same home ice they play and practice on all year.
Bring back the Friday night double header at the Warner/Rose Coliseum.
