Not shocking to hear Langenbrunner news, but sucks for CEC. I also heard yesterday that another CEC skater may be leaving. Will leave it to someone else to say who if/once it is confirmed.
Awful if true. What's worse is that I have a feeling this kid will go to Hermantown.
Good thing they ran Esse out of the job. Just think how bad things would have gone had they left him in charge!
With Kuhlman, Michauds x2, Bender, Langenbrunner, and mystery player all leaving, Cloquet is really pushing Hibbing for the "Grass is Greener" transfer award.
Yeah, minus Langenbrunner(if true) all the transfers were on his watch. Possibly a lot more would be gone if he would of stayed on.

Hermantown will gladly take him. Just one more in a long line of transfers to the Small Town Class A Darlings. Just have to cut one more Hermantown kid that has played and given his all since Mites. Easy Peasy Japanesey. All the hours on the outdoor rinks, Mom and Dad flooding, running the concession stand and just holding on to the dream that he can pull on that Varsity Jersey someday. "Sorry kid, we love ya but you know how it works here. Gots to make room for the transfers. Have you thought about Nordic Skiing or Robotics?"

Just to be clear, my statement was not a statement of fact. I heard (from a decent source) someone not named Langenbrunner "may" be leaving, which is why I didnt give a name or potential destination.

As of a today Galatz is off the "Northern" HSEL roster and I didn't see him on any other roster... Not sure what that means. (Juniors?)

He’s playing for the Wilderness before and after the high school hockey season.

I would assume he would be. But, Bender said the same thing his junior year and never came back so. many nice options out there for kids these days.

Looks like he was replaced with the Virginia kid who transferred to Hermantown this year. All three Hermantown kids in the HSEL are transfers. Wow!

Blake played in HT. He's not in the HSEL. They have Pierce from Ely, Lund from Hayward and Kilen from Virginia. Antcliff and Blomdahl are their next two prospects. They're both open enrolled there from Proctor and Denfeld. Like I said, Wow!

I follow, film, and support as much youth and girls Hs CEC hockey so I’m not just solely dependent on the boys Hs program for my winter puck. I’m diversified

Don't you think it's Andover's section to lose? I am not sold on Rapids bandwagon yet. You have a high school team that was well below .500 last year and a Bantam team that was very good, but didn't make it to state and was just outside the top 10 in the LPH and YHH rankings. You also have some posters from Rapids that don't seem to be sold on Clafton.
People just assume all the Bantam level kids moving up are going to step right in from where they left off in Bantams. How many incoming sophomores across the state truly make a major impact at the high school level that first year? 10%? I think everyone on this board can think of numerous kids that were stud Peewee and/or Bantam players that were just average at high school. I will always take a group of very good seniors over sophomores who haven't proven anything yet.
I want to see the Range teams do well and would love to see Rapids prove me wrong, but I just don't see them being a contender this year.

What public school in the Metro is the public/private as far as players transferring to their program? Hermantown is the de-facto up north cause they have a great program and a new arena coming soon. And...will Maple Grove ever be able to keep all their players? They would’ve so dominant in high school puck if they could figure that out.

Chaska in the mix for a metro team with a lot of open enrolls. Last years roster had: Bronson, Scholle, Fletcher, Lynch, Olmscheid and Magnuson from Chanhassen. Benz and McDonald from Shakopee. Pitlick and Erickson from Wayzata. Barry from Orono. Might have had more but don't know all the kids. This year there is another crop coming in including Burkholder(committed to CC). Koster also originally not from there, but moved in pretty young so we will count him as being from Chaska. Olmscheid, Magnuson, Benz and Pitlick were all elite league players so they had some good pick ups. Also, had a lot of good legit Chaska talent. Southwest area kids see them as an upcoming program with good coaches and feel that it is a good option to try to get noticed. They have a excellent player coming in with Jimmy Snuggerud and you will probably see another team with a lot of open enrolls forming around him and Burkholder. Not saying it is right or wrong, but this seems to be the way things are going in high school hockey.

Friday, January 10. I’m really going to enjoy this hockey season. Just like old times. Consistently playing schools with more talent, no expectations, and the grind and fun of an underdog in most matchups.

. CEC Lumberjacks High School hockey will be fine....

I am expecting a break out Senior season from Clafton at Grand Rapids.
He is capable, having 45 save win over CEC as sophomore on a 6-18 team.
This is his year to make a good run with a young but deepest (in 3 years) team playing in front of him.
Expect good things for the young man.
