i think this is will be a double sided sword for MW, now they think they are better than they really are. and i believe this lose is very humbleing for NP im sure the new coach will whip them into shape over the next week. It's still the first week we are a long ways away from the section tournament boys

Really? Believe me, I do believe that NP will be a real contender in the Section by the end of the year. West did expose some pretty big holes in the NP lineup though, D, goaltending, inexperience. but these are all things that will get better as the year goes along. One thing that Barger can't do is too play his top line as much as he did. Did T Lapic ever come off the ice in the 3rd? I also do not think West will take this as anything more than it was, a good win over a quality opponent.

After seeing what happened to West last year in the section semi-finals, I would have to agree with davey. Coach Essay won't let his boys get too high on themselves. Do these teams play again this year?

They beat Orono, yeah... so what? Granted, Orono is ranked higher than Red Wing, but I don't think Red Wing has played Orono in the past couple of years, so I'm sure it was just one of those games where neither team knew what to expect...
Northfield has always been kind of a rival game for Red Wing, so I don't think you could necessarily even say one is better than the other.
Lourdes is going to look for the win against Red Wing after the section game last year. I think that in light of new section assignments, it's hard to say what will happen. West is looking great, Lourdes is still pretty good, and New Prague was the team to beat in the Missota last year.
new prague

I noticed that New Prague has a lot of freshman and sophmores on their varsity team, is this a bad idea?

Not at all is that a bad idea. If they have got younger guys that are better than the older ones, they should play but they are less expierenced.

no and yes, no because, it will get those guys geared up at the high school pace ( its one hell of a lot faster than JV and Bantam ).
Yes, because, they are inexperienced, but on the other hand, playing with New Prague, they will get good fast.

Lourdes plays St. Thomas at STA, Tues. I'm sure they would have liked one more tune up game before playing but that is Mother nature for you

Mankato East goes to St. Peter. Waseca goes to Mankato West.
Mankato East acutally might have a chance to get the big W at tomorrows game.

Red Wing @ Lourdes -possibly the winer gets the top seed
Austin @ Century
Owatonna @ Albert Lea - big game in the Big Nine
Simley @ Northfield
Faribault @ Winona
What happened to Isaac Kolstad? I see he's not on East's roster this year. He's a senior and was the leading point getter last year for East, did he move on? I know he was on East's football team this fall.

Perhaps Red Wing and Lourdes are playing for the 3rd seed since Mankato West and Albert Lea may be seeded ahead of them both.
That said, I think it's a little early for seeding talk.

Issac and other senior Def. Alex Means decided not to come out this year because they had some kind of issues with the coach last season
