In all my years of scouting hockey, I always get a kick out of people getting so worked up about PeeWee or even Bantam hockey rankings. I think the only people who truly care about the rankings are parents (maybe coaches). If you asked a PeeWee player I'm sure they could care less. That being said, I'm not sure why Edina and Wayzata are at the top of the MNHockey.com PeeWee A rankings . Elk River has beaten Edina twice, Wayzata has a few losses under their belt, and I believe Coon Rapids has beaten 4 of the teams ranked above them(Wayzata, Grand Rapids, Lakeville, Eden Prairie).

hockscout - Of course they only people who care are the parents or coaches - Kids have better things to do. Apparently you care enough to to plug your favorite team (CR) - Do I sense a double standard...You can do it, but the rest of us are idiots..?

I agree with scout master, rankings are quite silly. I think its pretty obvious this year that there are 5-6 peewee teams that can beat anyone on any given date. We all know who these teams are, it will be interesting in late February when the games are decided on the ice.
That being said, this is a forum for hockey nuts so if someone wants to say Coon Rapids, even though they got beat by a group of 6th graders, should be number 1, thats fine with me. They do have a good team and will be in the thick of things come February.

I do agree with both of you that rankings are a bit silly and subjective.
But it is ONE way to measure a team. How many W-L-T do they have, what kind of competition do they play, Goals for, GA, etc. It seems that all those factors go into the rankings. Goldenbear said it right - We are "Hockey Nuts" - and I love it!
Maybe we shouldn't keep scores or have tournaments or playoffs of any kind. And give every little johnny goaltender 10 shutouts a year and every johnny forward gets 10 hat tricks - What fun would that be? My point being - How else do you determine the top players or teams and I think thats what this forum is all about.

Actually favorite team is Roseau, but wish I could watch them more than 2-3 times a year. We are all nuts about hockey i guess.

passer10 - That was a scimmage a couple months ago - If I am not mistaken. Blaine still does have a couple very good players.

passer - I was referring to the EP/Blaine scrimmage at the beginning of the year - Blaine beat ep 4-3.
Not sure what you meant by "NO way Edina beat Blaine 7-2 & 14-4".
I might be a little confused...I do know that they did in the tourneys you mentioned..
This weekend scores: EP 6 Jefferson 3, EP 2 Appley Valley 0.

MNhockeyrankings.com should also be looked at. Also, the end is near, and soon, each loss will eliminate someone, and all speculation will end. I do think MNhockey is better than LPH.

5th Graders-
I somewhat agree that they (Wayzata) shoudn't be #1. But, who deserves to be? On any given day Wayzata, Edina, Eden Prairie, Eagan, Woodbury and can beat eachother.
Edina beat Eagan and lost to Elk River and Wayzata (2 times each), Minnetonka
Woodbury lost to Lakeville South, Wayzata, and tied Roseville and South St. Paul
Eden Prairie beat Edina (2 times) and split with Wayzata
Eden Prairie lost to Grand Rapids, Thief River Falls, Prior Lake, Edina
Wayzata beat Woodbury and Eagan (two times) and Edina (two times)
Eagan lost to Edina, Woodbury (two times), Tied Jefferson, Cloquet, and Lakeville South. Beat Wayzata.
Based on the above in info:
1. Woodbury
2. Eden Prairie/Wayzata
4. Edina
5. Eagan

Not bad. Only thing I would change is Maple Grove I have seen this team play and they are not a Top 10 team. Top 25 yes not Top 10. Chaska is a Top 10 team. Other than that I would have to agree.
