Dylan Porter, Rosemount 15
Tyler Barnes, Burnsville 11
Dave Meyer, Eden Prairie 11
You're forgetting at least one senior.
David Eddy of
Woodbury has 11 goals and 6 assists so far according to pointstreak.com.
And one Junior/Senior
Aaron Ness 15 in 5 games; +6
I would say outside of the last 2 games (Moorhead, Hibbing) that the Rams have been off to a slow start compared to what they are capable to do.

Now that the voters are being instructed to count Ness as a senior, what happens if he wins Mr. Hockey and then falls short of the credit requirements and returns for his actual senior year?

That is just mental m********ing

Barring some freak event, accident or something out of his control it is not going to happen. Although this is a big load and probably unprecedented; Aaron is way to BRIGHT, DETERMINED and FOCUSED to fall short with credit requirements. Kid is straight A student.

So go stroke your brain some more to your hearts content

Enjoy!!!!
He is more likely to make sure he gets the credits that his game might suffer slightly and he miss the award. I doubt that is going to happen either.

It doesn't matter how smart you are, taking two years of school in one year is very, very hard. Add in the demands of playing varsity hockey, occasional weakends with U.S. NTDP and traveling around for many other tournaments, it could happen. MAny people are skeptical about Schreoder getting his and most think it will be harder for Aaron to get his because he started later. MAny college football players try to graduate high school a semester early to join their teams for spring practice. Many fall short, even the smartest players, because their just isn't enough time in their day to do it and try to keep getting stronger and improving at their sport. It is not unlikely that it will happen and could cause a problem, so don't act like it never happens and don't act the credits are already given to him. It will be a struggle for mr. Ness

Not anybody that has a good grasp of his situation. As I said in another thread, Schroeder started the school year as a senior because he already made up the required work to advance a grade. So he is just doing a normal school year to graduate.
Ness may have it "tougher" in comparison but I have yet to hear any well informed individual act "worried" that he can't do it.

They gave watchdog a diploma, Ness will be fine.

I am aware that Aaron will be graduating this year. As I contact the NHL scouts and D1 coaches that are sent Mr. Hockey ballots, I will try to ensure that they are aware that Aaron may be eligible to be voted on due to graduating early from his school.
Thank you,

From Loren's email...
"Aaron may be eligible"
It looks like they'll still be keeping tabs on his academics before his name is officially included on the ballot.

Burnsville players
Tyler Barnes
Jake Hendrickson
THEY are both going d-1, NOT to mention Barnes was on the Elite team. they are both also going to be on the cover of the High School Sports Magazine in January. They've been on varsity since 10th grade and Jake Was Assistant captain as a Junior. they are both captains now and I suspect one of them gets it. Jake plays more as a team player. He sets up the score. Barnes takes it. So we'll just have to see which one is preferred.

Now... I must admit he didn't pop into my head when I think about Mr. Hockey.
But after 7 pages, one month, and a boatloads of mentions.... I submit for your consideration Nick Theilan of Moorhead.
I've really liked this kid for two years as an outstanding all-around supporting player. It'll be interesting if he can shine brighter as the main man.
If he can and leads this very young team throught the season, we will be considering him come March.

eddy's in a bit of a slump right now but he'll pick it and finish the season with huge numbers on a team that i feel is rather underrrated

Jt brown is definately cleaning house right now for MR hockey. As soon as Barnes or Hendrickson on Burnsville snap out of their mini slump, they may erupt for a blizzard of points. Ness is showing why he is one of the best in the country and nick leddy is having a consistent year at EP.
Im gonna go with a shocker: Tommy Odonnell at Bloom Jefferson

Where's the love for Ryan Bohrer from CDH. He has 12 goals in 6 games against good competition (Blake, Breck, Benilde, Hastings, Forest Lake, Stillwater). Watch him tonight on FSN against the Cadets.

How about both players played on the same Elite League team?

Adam Olson!! just because he's on a team with bad coaching and inexperienced players. he should not be overlooked

Pretty tough to get a Mr. Hockey nomination when the kid is a freshman.......Lighten up on the self promotion, it shows poor class.

I think Leddy is the Sr but they do have a D that is number 33 that is a good player and a Jr. Graf I love the Tommy ODonnell call he is playing really well and is a great player. He is kind of carrying that young team at Jefferson right now.
