Yes JM did beat Century

1) JM played well, take nothing away from them. They took no penalties
until the last few minutes of the game, King stood his ground and really gave up few rebounds and when in front JM is a decent team they really can look bad if they fall behind early; JM took an early 2-0 lead in this one. JM was also tied 3-3 with Mayo midway through the third showing that any given night they can play.

2) Century isn't all that great to begin with but the old team rules violations bugaboo sat 7 or so kids.

Century had 4 injured (one from a car accident) and 4 more with academic violations. They just got back 2 others from previous violations.

There is nothing like cross town rivalries to bring out the best in kids.

ANybody seen that Big Nine record Book on the Big Nine standings website

http://sports.smumn.edu/bignine/

In my opinion, unless you have a complete record book for the conference, then don't post one that leaves people out. It is quite obvious when looking at the leader lists, there are teams that have not submitted their historical stats to that database. You are trying to tell me that Matt Leimbek from Rochester Mayo isn't in the points leader list anywhere??? If my memory serves me he(MN Gophers), Jason Noterman(ND Sioux), and Brian Buskowiak(UWEC Blugold), had oodles of points when they were tearing up the Big Nine and going to State on a regular basis. That is just an example, what about the other teams in the conference that don't have their record books in to the webmaster?

Just my 2 cents.

They were. The team is also getting alot of help from their second line. Myles Flott has been skating hard, starting, finishing plays and getting the puck into the other zone when the bat line takes their shift. I think the second line gets over looked for what they do.

wow visa... its not necessary to talk yourself up. the only reason they put you out there is to give mayo's only line a break

I am not a current parent or an athlete but I do watch a lot of hockey. My kids have been long gone through the system and I call it as I see it.

I posted this last year and I'm sure I'll post this again next year. I LOVE the fact that the WHOLE State is represented at the State Tournament. Infact I wish the Lakeville schools were excluded from Section 1AA. We all know the State Tournament is not the top eight schools in the State. Even if the weaker Sections lose 9 out 10, that 1 game is what makes the State Tournament special. JMO

*Having seen most of the Big Nine schools and Lakeville North and South. I still feel Century or Mayo will play one of the Lakeville schools in the Section 1AA Championship. Obviously a hot goalie could change these predictions, but to me these are the four teams to beat in 1AA.

yeah it was a good win for century, east had their backup goalie out but the goaltender for Century, Sellnow faced 50 shots and saved 48 in the win.

I heard that Century was outshot 50 to 11 or something like that. Probably not going to be the same when they meet again. But nonetheless it really shows what can happen when your goalie gets hot. What a game to build on for Century especially when mayo was beat by Duluth East 7-3. Should be interesting down the home stretch.

The game against Duluth East didn't offer a whole lot of insight on either team. To me it seemed as if Duluth East wasn't clicking at all, there passing was nothing like I had seen previously this season. In my opinion it was a clash of two different playing styles, Century a scrappy team that needs a few good bounces to win a game and Duluth was just undersized and couldn't get the rebounds they needed in order to win. Overall, I have to take my hat off to the Panthers, they did what they needed to do to win. I think the Big 9 and also Section 1 will be an absolute toss up just like everyother year.

Mankato West plays Rochester Mayo at Rochester today, Kaufman will be starting in goal should be an interesting game if both West and Mayo can play to their potential
