I agree eveyone in our association knows the #'s after tryouts and it is tough on those bubbles every year. It takes a strong development comittee to say lets bring the bubbles up to develop more kids and I am happy to say that at least on the surface our association tries to do what is right for the kids. You don't have to reinvent the wheel every year if you have the kids best interest in your sights. Good luck to Tonka and I wish we had the #s problem that they have.

Regarding the supposed #14 and #15 squirt players from tonka from last season. No one, and I mean no one, except the squirt level tryout cooridinator knows who those payers are.

So unless puck whisperer is that person, it would be nearly impossible to know if they are indeed on a PWB2 team this year.
I'll be honest it was a guess. I think the numerous hours at the rink with coaches/parents and watching the kids play in games and practice somewhat qualifies my guess. Are you suggesting that no one outside the coordinator knows who was left off the A team or who should have been there had there been two more spots? Most everyone knows. How in the hell did Billy not make A? Happens every year.

What made me even get on this thread was the warm fuzzy comment of don't you think the kids appreciate those extra touches for developement. Extra touches? This just suggests 14 & 15 dropped of a cliff in talent compared to #13 in Tonka. Sorry don't buy this!

Let them get better coaching - this goes down the line to B & C kids. I'm not hacking on the association - just don't see how "this works" for the association. That said - being on SQ A does not make a career.

I was amazed when I stopped by Bramaer to watch some hockey today. Watched two Peewee A games. Rosemount had 13 skaters and Lakeville South had 13 skaters. Maybe there were injuries or my old eyes don't see straight but I think the rosters in program agree with my eyesight. Why the heck do these two large programs shorten the squad for Peewee A's like Tonka? Maybe its for the nice peewee trophy they might win....not this weekend from what I saw.

Golden bear with no knowledge:

Tonka does not "shorten" the roster for Peewee's. There are 15 skaters and 2 goalies. There are regulations in place for D6 that deal with roster size for peewee's and above....

BBlood, my error, I was referencing MTKA Squirt even though I was talking about peewee A's I witnessed. It doesn't make sense to me why an organization like Tonka would go to shorter squad for squirts when required not to do it later at peewees.

I still haven't heard why it's 13 instead of 10 or 11?

Any word on the NSP tourney?

In Edina ... it looks like Elk River and Stillwater will come out of one side. Depending on tonights game between centennial and OMG it will be EP, Centennial or OMG out of the other.

Any with insights into the games? Who looks to be the favorite going into tomorrows big games between Stillwater and Elk River and EP and Centennial?

Got to see some games yesterday. I think ER and EP will prevail. ER is quick up and down the ice. EP is big and uses the body well for squirts. Very good games so far.

Be ready "Keep Skating", Stillwater has speed as well. A couple of late goals by Edina made it closer that it was. It was 4-1 with a 6 or 7 minutes left!

Flyer79, I’m assuming you are from Stillwater? How did your game go against Elk River last night, I see Elk River won 6 to 3.

3rd Place Game:
Centennial vs. Stillwater

1st Place Game:
Eden Prairie vs. Elk River

Lost 6-3 and outshot them 26-16.
We rotate our goalies even in big games.
ER had 6 goals on 10 shots.
Not going to win with tending like that!
Our guys never quit though.

Wow! Way to throw the tender under the bus! curious if anyone else saw this game. Are the shot totals accurate. Seems like Flyer may have a twinge of bias in him.

Exactly. Sounds more like the offense came up a little short.

Tell your players, "gotta score 5 to win." Don't score 5 and you can't bring up the goalie.

Looks like tonka will take their 13 skaters to the third place game in No St. Paul.. Not many top teams there. Thought it would be an easy run for Tonka and Wayzata...Burnsville Wazata final. Lakeville North Tonka for 3rd
