The tonka thing got me to thinking. You listed all those outstanding D men, and I agree, but I think at one time Hesketh was part of that group and was considered one of the top ones. Early commit to Wisconsin if I remember correctly. That's a whole bunch of fine young defenders in one program.

I was told by a youth board member that the MV numbers will be higher next season than they were this past. Also the pipeline shows the same over the next few years. Seems as though MV was able to get through this past season with some okay success. I know nothing about the girls side though.

Go Mustangs!
Yes I did, but GO KNIGHTS!!
Prediction: within five years we'll be rooting for a joint Irondale/Mounds View high school varsity program, both boys and girls. They won't be successful within 5 years, numbers-wise, without high school mergers on both sides.

I think the exodus of top end kids at LS continues and this program will stay light years behind LN. I'll be the first one to admit I was wrong if otherwise, and wish the new staff the best of luck, but just don't see it happening.
Once again, you do not know what you are talking about. Lets see what this new coach can do. Everyone should get a chance.

It's too bad for New Ulm but his reasons are very legitimate. Setterholm spoke up when no one else dared to about the disparity in Class A hockey between the St. Thomas type programs and the majority of outstate programs. He also makes it pretty clear how hard it is to hold a regular job outside of of the school system and be a high school head coach....my guess is New Ulm doesn't have the boosters some Suburban schools have to make being a high school head coach financially worthwhile.

Hey Brokaw don't forget any of your tools that you brought to Providence! Don't leave the Dr. D.A.F behind! 😎

As a MV fan I'm getting worried about this new hire. I know nothing of this guys but the comments here are getting me excited. I have liked watching them playing over the last few years and hope he can continue to move it in the correct direction

Brokaw will do the MV program, solid. He's a terrific X's and O's guy and most of the players that play for him, enjoy his style, based on my observations.

MV High School hockey program = Strong Buy

Think he was a 2nd round draft pick too and ended up at Hamline, played a year or 2, then never again.
Don't know who Brokaw is. What's is hockey background?
Former MN Blades (AAA) and Providence Academy coach. Current co-owner of Competitive Edge ie Hat Trick Sports training facility in St. Louis Park and has personally trained several D-1 players. Relates well with kids especially those who are dedicated to getting better. Unfortunately, a program like PA wasn't conducive to his coaching abilities as many of the hockey players were not committed to the sport knowing that they would play anyway do to numbers. Majority of the current talent are underclassmen and it will be interesting to see who stays.

Biggest question will be...will the goalie stay?

Good as gone - Based on what I heard, Brokaw was the only reason he was attending PA.

He'd be guaranteed to lead the state in all statistical categories for goalies...has anyone heard if the cards have officially upgraded the schedule. I've heard New Prague, SCC, EGF, Wayzata, TG, SPA, Sartell all as possibilities.

Don't think that is ever going to lead you to St. Louis since it runs east and west.

Opening at International Falls. Sad, that thing keeps turning over almost yearly.

Sad to see how far the Falls has fallen. As a Greenway fan I know how that feels. It doesn't look like there is much hope in the future either. None of their youth teams have had success in recent years.

Any word on who the assistant coaches will be at GR? Also I heard Clafton interviewed this morning and he indicated the strong possibility Rapids vs Greenway will happen in 2 seasons.
