Better team Rams
Best player Aaron Marvin
Big ice was an advantage to the quicker and more skilled Rams. Both goalies did their job. Hats off to Jake, it is an accomplishment in itself to face the players you grew up with. Bjerk has proved again, he will play well in the "big" games.
Aaron Marvin! Wow! He is an exceptional player that just keeps getting better. He would be in the top two lines for the St. Cloud Huskies right now.

Vatnsdal and Bjerk were both amazing in net tonight, i think that fist one caught Alex off gaurd, but he held strong. Vatnsdal definatly showed Oliver that he made a mistake (which isn't too hard to do).
The Rams came out flat, there is no denying it. Olson had his troops flying out of the gates and Oliver couldn't even get his fired up for one of their biggest games of the year. He must have been too busy trying to figure out different ways to show off his son during the game. The Rams talent and powerplay opportunities final gave them enough spark.
If the Warriors would have stayed out of the box, they would have owned this game.They had the intesity that the Rams didn't.
Point is.... If Oliver can't get his guys ready to play, they are going to have a very short run in March, cause Moorhead will stomp 'em, or any other team in the state tourney (if they make it that far)
Tell Oliver to worry about his TEAM not his kid

What game were you watching Gatzke? First of all, cutting Vatnsdal was a numbers game....7 goalies, you can't keep that many goalies and get them the playing time each wants and/or deserves.
Secondly, Warroad came out the first few minutes of the period strong - Roseau weathered the storm, and did just fine.
Warroad would have owned this game if not for powerplays? Um...ok.
Did you notice Nick Oliver's pretty goal? (2nd Rams goal?)
Anyway, good game overall....fun to watch from the stands and I'm sure on TV.

Vatnsdahl definately showed his old team he could play. and that he wouldnt be taking any crap from them as he was jabbering after every play. Aaron Marvin is incredble. big, strong, and can really change a game (even with penalties). the refs blew, there were AT LEAST 7 early whistles that were made. Bjerk was also very shaky controlling the puck for the first 2 periods. Warroad really only played half a game last night but they showed they can hang with AA powerhouses. should be a great rematch out west

Just wanted to point out there I saw at least two quick whistles in the Warroad end as well.
What a great hockey game by both teams. Both goaltenders played really well, found it tough that they would have cut the goalie now playing for Warroad, but he was a bit of a mouth. I suppose that could be expected given the situation though.
Roseau was clearly the faster and deeper team on offense while Warroad was better defensively. Wow that Marvin kid is good, he needs a little more help though. He had to do too much on his own.
Did anyone see the unsportsmanlike conduct call after the second goal by Roseau? Looked like the kid was just doing the bench celebration, turned around and ran into the Warroad kid and that was it. Maybe someone could tell me if there was more there than I saw.

You are correct as he was going back into the Roseau zone to celebrate with Bjerk and ran into Michael Pieper I believe and he took a dive and sold the call in front of the Warroad bench. Hasbargen had another one of his tirades and got the call he wanted. The funny thing is that they called it on #22 Kurt Weston and it was actually #23 Nick Oliver. Albert had referee George Weber so flustered he couldn't remember the number.

Nobody has ever disputed the fact that Nick is a good player. He does derserve to be on that varsity squad.
What I am attempting to get through your dense skull is that, although it is great to be a proud parent, Oliver still needs to remember he has 19 other guys on that team.

It is sad that this is what northern officiating has become. Missed offsides, not remembering which zone to drop the puck in, and various other beginner mistakes being made by men who have been around for years. Maybe they are just getting to old, I dont know. And I am not talking about just this game.

Wow, Hasbargen really blew up a few times last night that's for sure! For the most part, I couldn't see why he was trippling his blood pressure? At the end of the 1st period, I thought he was going to explode when he was right in the face of the ref!??

Sounds like you have a dense skull yourself, with an axe to grind here?
Oliver's kid doesn't get as much playing time as many of the other Rams, so not sure why your undies are in such a bunch. No matter what happens here, you will criticize him for playing too much, etc.
Get over it.

it was good to see a good game by both sides last night. It did end up how I had thought it would as both tenders played well as Vats played tough early on and Alex got better as the game went on. I was hoping for a Roseau blowout but Oh well I kind knew better.
Tough to listen to announcers last night though driving me nutz with the pronouniaction of Vatnsdahl's name. Uggh. Just like the way most people always butcher the pronounciation of Roseau when they play in the cities.
It also would be nice to see this game aired from from the Roseau Arena at some point too. From what I remember it always seems to be aired when they play over there in Warroad.
Anyhow kudos to everyone involved with the game. Cant wait to here how the re-match turns out.

Hopefully somebody following closely can answer this, but how many games has Oliver played at Defense rather than Forward?

Nick oliver started at forward. Nick was only playing 3rd line at the begining of the year so in close games when the bench was cut short to playing 2 lines Coach oliver would sit one of his top 4 defensemen and put his kid on defense. I believe he was moved to defense 2 or 3 games ago. I know he played against EGF and gave up a couple breakaways. My opinon, keep him at forward.
Nick is a good kid, one of the hardest workers on the team, and he is a varsity player. He will be a key player the next 2 years when he grows into his feet a little more.

Right now I would compare Nick to Bobby Jon Byfuglien.
Congats to Dustin Byfuglien who got called up to the Chicago Blackhawks a few days ago. He also made the AHL All-Star Team. I would love to have you in my line up.
Roseau didn't put him in the line up for the 5 year Roseau Green/ White All Star game. Instead he watched from the stands. Funny how they claim him as their own yet treat him like that. What would other programs have done???? I have a feeling other programs would have let him play.
Is this the right thing to do???

He is an alumni of Roseau but not the Roseua varsity hockey team. Maybe Roseau claims him as their own because of his youth hockey experience and countless hours he spent at open hockey at the memorial. If he would of had the grades for eligibility than he would of played varsity. He made a good move by going to chicago.

I read that he went to Roseau Elementary School and talked to the kids about hockey.
This would be qualification enough in my book.
I think a roseau hockey reunion is about a program.
