I hate to say it, but I don't think so. I think the fact that MV plays a tougher schedule (primarily due to the fact that they're actually
in a conference

) and that they beat Johnson (albeit in OT), will have to put them above the Governors.
I'm still hoping for that WB/Guppie matchup!

Looking at maxpreps, Johnson did lose to both Moundsview and Tartan. So I'd gues Moundsview gets 5 (they beat Tartan), Tartan gets 6 (they beat Johnson) and Johnson gets 7...

That's what I figured - I just don't know that Stillwater is a guaranteed lock at #5 - that's really the only question I have (and it's a small one) about any of it - #5 & #6.

I assume you meant Stillwater at #4. But they split with Moundsview and have a win over Roseville and White Bear Lake which looks better then anything Moundsview or Tartan can throw on the table. So I'd guess they are pretty much a lock for #4. They didn't look that great on tv last night (Stillwater) but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them give Hill a good game in the sections. Hey Govs, you'll like my section finals pick in the Section Winners thread (although you may want to argue the outcome)...

I'll take that!
If I look at it objectively, they'd have to win two "big" games to get there, and I think that may be a little bit bit of a stretch, but I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility to get one anyway. They've been playing relatively well over the last month or so, losing only one game in regulation in their last 8 - albeit against inferior competition - but they looked like they were playing with a lot of confidence on Wednesday. They got knocked back for a few minutes in the 2nd period, but regained their composure and took charge against a team they should have. We'll see. It's an interesting section.

They have probably already decided but it may not go on the MSHSL website until late this afternoon or early tonight. Hard to say though because Hill Murray was in Moorhead last night but Lechner probably didn't even need to be at the section meeting because it's almost certain Hill Murray will be a #1 seed.

Lechner still has to vote on the other teams.

I assume he could vote by text message or phone call. I don't think you get to vote for your own team anyway, but there is no way they can be anything but #1 in the section. I think it will fall as we predicted above...

It is one of the weakest sections in the state based on state tournament results. Two and out again last year.

I think the White Bear Lake vs. Tartan game is going to be interesting. Which White Bear Lake team will show up, the team that got past Stillwater although looking unimpressive in section QF's two consecutive seasons or the team that beat Centennial in 06 & Roseville in 07 their next game both seasons? And which Tartan team will show up, the team that beat Hill Murray or the team that lost to Henry Sibley & Simley? The Stillwater vs. Mounds View game will also be good. They split against each other during the regular season (both winning at home) so this will be the rubber game. I will be at both sessions but the evening will have some good action. And I will go support the hometown Polars in the play-in game against Como.

The section has never been a cakewalk for Hill-Murray. The 21 section titles have been full of close & OT games.

Good call. I would just like to add that this is an exciting time of the year for basically everyone. We get to see the elusive Hill-Murray fans. For a glimpse of a few of these fair-weathered creatures, I suggest checking out the 4AA Championship, assuming HM makes it there

Still would like to see them in the section finals and Centennial in the state finals.

Just a gut feeling, but I think HM is going to get upset by someone, possibly Stillwater.
