Was it really Tabakas fault or the guys in front of him or both?

Underwood has been the starter with 15 games at 2.61 and tabaka with 1.57 gaa

One good thing about todays game is the play of some of Rapid's younger guys. Getting some action and playing very well!

Yuck!! That's about all you can say as GR left all facets of their game in the locker room back at the IRA. Started out harmless enough, GR played fairly flat at the beginning, but Tababka kept them in it, and at 1-0, you expected Rapids to come storming back. Nope, GR started out well enough at the beginning of the 2nd, but all of a sudden, they started treating the puck as if it were a hand grenade. Too much panic, not enough poise. Not having a certain crafty defenseman affected GR more than I thought. Not everyone played badly, but not enough played well enough to compete in this game. Not taking anything away from Anoka as they deserved the win, but when GR goes south, they do it as a team. Bad timing for most to have their worst game of the season. Tough way to go out, but that's the breaks sometimes. Good luck to all the outgoing seniors on this year's team, it's been a pleasure watching you guys do battle this season. Hold your heads up because you're all a bunch of class acts. As for the underclassmen, especially the 3 sophs that were in this game, get after it, go to work this off season and come back stronger and hungrier next year. You guys are the backbone starting next season.

It was a disappointing end to a great morning/afternoon of hockey. I was a little bummed by the Rapids fans leaving early too, but it was still a good showing. After all Anoka had about a quarter of the people there Rapids did. I just hope Cloquet can pull it out Thursday.

Well it's off to BIG to watch Edina/AHA. Keep the HS hockey coming.

Who were the younger players that played? How could loosing 6-0 constitute playing very well?

Alot of people thought he was hurt, I heard from a friend in duluth underwood was already told after the FL game he was going in the semi's. Sounds like some pressure and tears constituted a change late Friday. I know i could'nt believe it, and i also heard Randolph asking a guy why he was'nt playing. Also why would you go by stats. Look at who they each played against. Moron's, Not that G.R. would have won but if you can keep it close 1 or 2 you have a chance, running time in the semi's, that's embarassing, especially with a healthy underwood who has shown he play's tough against the better teams in the state. Now we have to cheer for a team in purple.

Very True ,same what i heard did we have some politics here for goalies,I thought it was a poor move,yes i will cheer for purple I did saturday

Thanks and hats off to the Rapids seniors. It's been a helluva run. Have really enjoyed watching these young men over the years and how well they've handled themselves, regardless of wins or losses. Another job well done by Coach LaRoque and his staff.

Who where the three sophs who played very well...I know of two that competed hard like they have every game this year. Injuries, resulted in some players getting chances which may never have occured. The Back bone of the team next year will be the seniors, it always is...Anoka seniors played great falling one game short last year.

Rapids seniors may not have had the run they would have wanted, but they have been a class act with great character all the way through the program. Could always be proud of how they carried themselves in school and the community. Great examples for the juniors and the Sophs (back bones) to follow. Thanks class of .08 "you didn't blow it."

The experience those kids got will go a long way to helping the incoming crop from the Bantam A team. Those 4 sophs have the ability to help lead a team and be relied on for quality minutes. Looking ahead, GR will most likely be very, very young next season. No one is discounting what's left of the GR squad for next year, just saying it's my opinion that those 4 sophs will help lead this team for the next 2 years.

Anyone have any insight as to whether Crushtheyskullz could skate out and play some D? He won't be in goal (Underwood), and Rapids could use a linebacker with Kleinindorst to be a physical presence on the blue line? And before anyone says anything, I know Sammy will be back, but he is not that type of player. Nothing wrong with having some big boys who can make you aware of them on the move up the ice.

Heard he's a wrestler now. Maybe though. GR may be a little undersized next season, a lot of 5'9" 5'10" 150 to 160lbs. They'll have a few with some size though. A couple of thick D with Leingang who should be in the 180 -200 lb range, and Merritt who is 6'4" around 195. They both (as they all do) need to hit the weight room seriously this summer and get themselves ready. Wouldn't mind seeing Sammy put on a dozen or so lbs this off season as well.

The Grand Rapids players have much to be proud of...they made it to STATE 2 straight years...and the result on Saturday takes nothing away from that.

On Saturday GR played hard and never got chippy...despite a tough 3rd period.

After the game, Roy and Palkki could be seen talking to some of Anoka's players at center ice to chat and wish good luck in the finals. In addition, after the earlier game in GR, Shane Greniger made a point to seek out one of the Anoka players (who was a teammate a couple years ago at the Select 15 Festival in St. Cloud) to chat and catch up. To me, these are two examples of what class acts these players are. Good luck to the Juniors and Sophomores next season...the graduating Seniors have set a great example for you... both on the off the ice.

tabaka wasnt at the top of his game but who did he really have on D? kozac wasnt 100%, rendle was out, rapids couldnt make a pass nearly every goal he couldnt see.
I also talked to laraque after the game and he also said theres nothing tabaka could have done

Some of you are suggesting that emotion had a lot to do with playing Tabaka. I haven't the slightest clue why the decision was made. I didn't look at it as a terrible one and I certianly do not blame Mr. Tabaka for the loss. He battled hard all year and had a great senior campaign. However, if emotional appeal won him the starting job on Saturday that is a crying shame. Rapids had a pretty capable backup goalie last year that only started once due to Jensen being suspended. The coaches didn't give him a break and I would be surprised if they picked this time to give a kid a break. With that being said, I would have gone with Underwood, but Trevor did not cost the team the game. Plain and simple.
