AL vs NP

I don't know who really cares, but New Prague just beat Albert Lea 7-3. Score doesn't really dictate the outcome, New Prague dominated the whole game and two of the goals that Albert Lea scored appeared to have bounced off of a New Prague player. In Albert Lea's defence they never gave up and they never stopped being physical.

Albert Lea still has to play lourdes but from the looks of it they wont be able to keep up with them. I think with the lost to NP they've locked themselves the #4 seed

Actually, I agree with the fact that the score didn't dictate the outcome, game was closer than the 7-3 final. I must have seen a different game than you, I saw AL miss on the scrums in front of the NP goalie and I saw NP put away a couple of garbage goals. Then those 2 shorties at the end killed AL.

LZ, I'm with you on that, game was much closer and more competitive than 7-3. But, in reality it doesn't matter if you lose by 1 or 10, a loss is a loss is a loss.

I'd this puts AL 4th and the top 3 will be decided by Lourdes, RW and NP.

I don't see how you can say the game was close. NP dominated Albert Lea. Who cares if they were garbage goals? The Albert Lea goalie should have stopped them, controlled the rebound, or covered the puck. Or their D men should have cleared it. NP clearly played better hockey, not to mention that at least one of Albert Leas goals was put in because of a NP d man

But, don't forget that Albert Lea beat Lacrescent. I agree with scarlet, too much chaos when you get too many degrees apart.[/quote

Here is how I would put them

1. RW Seem to be playing the best right now
2. NP beat Lourdes, loss to Hutch
3 Lourdes Bad loss to Delano
4 AL Seem to be locked in this position
5 West need to right the ship in a hurry or could fall to sixth
6 Faribault seem to be coming on as would be expected with a young team
7 La Cescent
8 Northfield
9 Waseca
10 East
11 Austin

A few games upcoming that could shake up the top 3
I agree with this prediction going off of how teams are playing right now. Only team that i think might start to turn it around a little more before sections is west because according to pointstreak, the second line is starting to produce more, unless the lines were changed since they played Albert Lea a while ago. Anybody know more?

#21 Jensen came back for West and has been scoring, I don't know if Coach Essay has made any line changes or the 7 seniors(8th is goalie) are just starting to get hot.

Red Wing, Lourdes and NP are the top three, IMO, but in what order remains to be seen.

Assuming everyone wins the games they should the rest of the season, the Feb. 17 game between New Prague and Red Wing have a lot riding on it as far as seedings.

I travelled down to New Prague for the game vs. Hutchinson last night. I was very dissapointed, I thought that it would be a good game because the last game Hutch won 4-3 overtime. It wasn't. New Prague dominated from the drop of the puck until about 3 minutes left in the game. The final score was 9-2 and the first line for New Prague had 21 points combined: Tyler Lapic-8 Schyler Adams-8 Darrin Lapic-5. Hutch put in their backup goalie for the third and let in three goals. However, Hutch scored two goals when there was about 3 minutes left. One on a break-a-way...Np goalie out too far...and one a 3-on-1, the goalie had no chance.

Not so fast...West got beat by Winona today and faces 3 Rochester teams of the next 2 weeks. They could very well drop to 6th seed. If Lourdes beats up on West and wins over Totino Grace, they remain a 3rd or even 2nd seed consideration.

Lourdes started the year third in the state now needs to beat West to get the 4th seed in their own section? That's a major drop for team that was built up through the youth ranks to be a top team in the state. A nice win for Albert Lea who had to play last night and come back and play an afternoon game today.

I definitely dont see that happening considering NP beat AL 7-3? i think that was the score, and they beat Lourdes 4-3 in OT, when Lourdes was actually playing at the top of their game.

I agree with these rankings, I mean even with Albert Lea's win over Lourdes, Lourdes beat them worst earlier in the season (5-0) you can't forget that.

New Prague is pretty much locked down for #2 unless they can get pass Red Wing on Feb. 17th.

Lourdes look locked at #3 but they will be extremely dangerous during sections as they have the ability to beat any team in the section, they just haven't been able to play to their potential.

Mankato West hasn't been looking as good compared to earlier in the season where they had close games vs. Albert Lea and New Prague, they need to shape it up to compete in the section. They play Century, Lourdes and John Marshall in their last three games. As for the lost to Winona in overtime (4-3) they seem like they simply couldnt bury the puck, they outshot the Winhawks a little over 2:1.

In past years the second meeting seemed to carry more weight that a first meeting between two teams come seeding time. If that holds true, Al is #3 and Lourds #4. NP could land the top seed with a win over RW. NP seems to have righted the ship. West actually played OK against Winona. Outshot them 49-18. Winona goalie played very well and Winona capitalized on the few opprtunities they had.

I agree with that line up except Lourdes and Albert Lea; Albert Lea just beat them yesterday so that one is a toss up. The game between NP and Red Wing should decide the seeding.

LeSeuer is now in 1AA. Not that this matters. I think they added a co-op to make the jump up.
