I agree. Lots of work to be done before they're even sniffing the top 20. Major step backwards this past weekend in Hibbing.

Duluth East hasn't lost a district 11 game in 8 years...They are undefeated this year with the only blemish being a tie against Cloquet back in November. They are 6-0-1 with all their fair play points. There is no way that Hermantown is in first place.

Better get your facts straight...They did beat Hermantown didn't they?

Woodbury 3, Rochester 2. I believe this is Rochester's first district loss?

In Rochester even. If Woodbury hadn't stumbled with Lakeville South they would have taken the top spot. Rochester still has Eagan and Cottage Grove to deal with, both away games for Rochester. By the looks of tourney play they don't like to travel much.

About the only sure thing this year is that anyone can beat anyone on any given day. Not too many can stay real consistent.

there is no way northern hockey is better. when was the last time a northern team won the state high school tourney. the tradition may be better but northern team like roseau, warroad, and moorhead and duluth east simple dont match up against centennial, edina, ep, white bear lake, jefferson, etc

I think the talent that comes out of the northern schools is amazing when you look at the numbers there are, in comparison to an Edina, Centennial, Eden Prairie, etc.

Just for example, the GR bantams this year have 14 skaters on their A team and 18 on their B team. The A's have fielded a pretty good team.
Now compare that to the numbers that the bigger metro schools have to choose from with their A teams.

There's no way to look at apples to apples, but the northern teams do compete remarkably well when you consider the numbers.
GR highschool, #2 in state last year. Not bad. Not Edina, not Eden Prairie.

And you're right - the tradition in the north is way better.
