In our section i don't think stats matter that much at all, who knows what will happen next

Marshall 6
Litchfield 6
Final/OT
The first two periods it looked like Marshall capitalized on all of their chances where as Litchfield got equal opportunities and could not put the puck in the net.
Third period was kind of the other way around except Litchfield reduced Marshall's chances, and they kept fighting to put the puck in the net.
Shots:
Marshall 22
Litchfield 30

literally felt like i watched two different games...the first 2 periods marshall looked great, just was playing good hockey not allowing litch good scoring chances. 3rd period totally different, marshall looked like they just tried to stretch their lead and stop scoring, but litch also came out and showed what kind of fire power they have.

Wow, i heard Marshall was up 5-1 going into the third!? unbeleivable. Did they just choke or what. Did Litchfields #5 score any? he is a really good player.

You are right. I went to Marshall tonight to see this game as I have not seen Litch play all year. I saw an entertaining game. The best player on the ice tonight was LDC's #5 John Barrick. He has a D1 shot. (Not to be confused with a shot at D1) I spoke out of turn on an earlier post when I said Bergau & Kohn were the best D in the section. I will take Barrick, Hanson, Berry & Sundin any night over anyone I've seen in this section this year. They are solid! Barrick is the best D in the section.
Marshall tried to sit on a 4 goal lead and got buried in the third. Ogdall played two good periods but absolutely quit in the third. Last time I saw Marshall play #6 took some stupid penalties. He did it again tonight. I can't say he lost the game for them but his penalty was a huge factor.
This section is still a crap shoot.
LDC's D

these guys solidly gave up 6 goals last night. if that was a good night, i'd hate to see a bad night.

I would say that marshall took it to litchfield in the first two periods, on the score board, but litchfield took it to them in marshalls zone, when litchfield gets there forecheck flowing its really hard to stop... marshall had some good players who could snipe when they had their chances. Not to mention marshalls goalie who stood on his head...... anyone else see the game??

I don't think the score in the first two periods reflected how Litchfield played. Marshall was just making the best of their chances, and their goalie was playing his role.
In my opinion, litch was playing hard the whole game, and marshall just let up a little in the third period which gave Litchfield the opportunities they needed, and once they got momentum it was hard to stop them. They were two pretty even teams, but i think if marshall would have kept it up in the third they would have come out with the win.
Too bad two good periods won't win you a game however, Marshall has to learn to play a solid game from the drop of the puck to the final second

i would say that marshall just scored on there chance and LDC did not.. and i think that Adams on LDC has like eight goals and nine helpers. acording to maxprep. i was at the game it was really good. both teams looked equal.

Any predictions on the new ulm-willmar game tomorrow night?
Posted: Fri Jan 11, 2008 6:49 pm
by Edger
New Ulm coming off 8-1 win over Waseca Thurs nite.
Willmar coming off 7-2 loss to Sauk Tuesday night.
Willmar also plays Wadena on Friday night in Willmar.
New Ulm will be fresher and rested.
NU's strengths are hard work and desire as usual, They are rolling along pretty good right now.
Willmar couldn't sustain the momentum they gained over the holidays and have taken it on the chin lately.
Both teams have some injuries.
Everything points to a big NU win.
But I also believe this could become the #1 rivalry in this new section someday. Similar programs, similar styles, both skate hard and get after you (when they are at the top of their game).
