A near major upset - I'm surprised AHA gave up 4 to Farmington.xk1 wrote:AHA 6

Ugly game...
This was a tough loss for Mayo. Slow start for them, then fairly even play for most of the 1st period and all of the 2nd, then the third period was pretty much controlled by Mayo. They outshot Hopkins by 7-10 shots in the 3rd, but couldn't get it in the net. Also good night for Mayo's Brit Erickson and Ali Harwood.Oilers08 wrote:Hopkins 1 Roch. 2nd shut out in a row for Kallie Billadeau #30
Cara Johnson #22 moves are amazing
Roch. Mayo goalie was solid
#10 and #5 from Roch. Mayo good hands/speedy
Very poor AHA goaltending. AHA's second stringer was in net. Shots were AHA 45 to Farmington 14.MNHockeyFan wrote:A near major upset - I'm surprised AHA gave up 4 to Farmington.xk1 wrote:AHA 6

Well I'm GREEN and GREEN all over...the refs blew this game big time last night that’s all I have to say..Wayzata deserved better. ...the refs blew this game big time last night thats all I have to say..Wayzata deserved better.justafan wrote:The OT goal was not controversial at all. If you were standing on the side of the rink at the glass like I was, you'd have seen the puck dribbled right in to the back of the net and then one ref blew the whistle. The only thing that confused fans in the stands was that ref was slow to signal the goal, fans thought the whistle blew before the goal, but it did not, the puck was in there already. Fans did not have the vantage point the refs (or I) did, both refs were right there and made the correct call. You really had to be standing to the side of the net to see it. Either team could have won. Would love to see these two teams play again.
Wow, I just saw the shots in this game. 38 for Richfield and 37 for Simley! I'm not sure I've often seen that many shots on each side. Had to be exciting for the fans.ghshockeyfan wrote:Simley 2 Richfield 0 EN
Richfield has a very solid team. Outstanding goalie. A ton of penalties in this game. Special teams were critical. 5v5 teams very evenly matched. #12 very impressive for Richfield. D #18 solid as always too.
There is a story that isn't told without the complete boxscore (penalties & all). Start with the 1st period - shots 20-9 Simley with a pretty even penalty count. 2nd period Richfield came to play and Simley decided to spend too much time in the box and were out-shot nearly 2-1 the rest of the game. Someone said that Simley was PK 5v3 for nearly 8 minutes in this game, but I don't think that's right. 5-to-3 PP advantage for Richfield in 2nd & 4-to-2 in 3rd (after you eliminate coincidentals and some bad sportamanship stuff near end). Those 5-v-3 PK's though are tough and result in a lot of shots. The story of this game was the goaltending, penalties, and what I believe are two very evenly matched teams. The rematch should be equally good and if they meet a 3rd time in sections, that could well be the deciding game in the series and the obvious final game of the season for one team...keepitreal wrote:Wow, I just saw the shots in this game. 38 for Richfield and 37 for Simley! Also don't forget that Cara Johnson (Hopkins) also played at Wayzata, but at that time was playing PeeWees with the boys. Wayzata already has a good goalie but Kallie Billadeau (Hopkins goalie) is also from Wayzata. Last but not least are the Komarek sisters - Wayzata residents who attend Blake and contribute about a third of their offense.cluelessinminnesota wrote:When looking at the Blake-Wayzata boxscore all I could think of was... what if the Chutes played for Wayzata like they did when they won the U12A State Championship? WOW! Two great teams from one program. The Blake goalie(Rachel R-B) even lives (Orono) closer to Wayzata than Blake.
