Tech could easily score 4 goals against Buffalo and they should've last night. And I bet your Buffalo team can't put up 2 goals against the Spuds. Have fun in Moorhead.

Hof I don't like your chances, but totally agree on St.Cloud comment both AA schools are down and out. I hope Apollo goes to A maybe they can compete again-boy I still am dreaming of the Apollo win against Anoka and their only State appearance. Plenty of individual talent has come and gone for the Eagles, but no team concept!

Apollo has a lot of individual talent that comes through. And some of the best goaltending in the area.

However, there is alot of talent coming up for Tech in the next couple years.

It will be interesting to see what happens with both programs.

Really STC18...didn't look like Tech had anything going on to me besides about 20 shots from the blue line...They did have a nice play off the face off and Buffalo really needs to work on their draws...other than that Tech was out of this game mid way through the 2nd...

If I have been supporting Tech, what makes you think I am the father of an Apollo goalie?

SCC's Hess is by far the top goalie in the St. Cloud area. Neither Tech nor Apollo has had upstanding netminding this year. The Apollo goalies are average and have not been good enough to get their team a win when they need it by totally shutting down another team. Apollo really lacks talented depth all around.

Tech's goaltending has also been very average, but there has not always been a lot of help in front of them. Tech really lacks a tough physical presence on their defense. They probably have the physically softest defense in the area. Offensively, I can't understand why Tech couldn't mount more output this year as they do have some nice talent up front. In the end, these deficiencies caught up with them quick.

This is where we disagree, put either of Apollo's goalies on Cathedral and they look just as good as Hess. Put Hess on Apollo and play him against some of the teams that Apollo has played he looks "average". Before last nights loss to Bemidji both Apollo goaltenders had a save % of 90 and a GAA between 2-4. I would say that's not too shabby.

Goldy, I have to agree with BlueGoose on this one. And speaking of who Apollo played.. I can honestly say that the Wright County Conference is a tougher all-around conference than the CLC.. Oh, and don't forget the Meier kid coming up to SCC this next year. He'l probably going to be as good as any on either Tech or Apollo's teams after a year under his belt. In fact, Meier's will probably have to step up to the varsity level right away.

Opinion though, strictly opinion here.

Goldy, usually I agree with you. But Hess and Lochner are two top-notch goalies. Definitely the best in Central MN. I think Hampton is a great goalie, and may be the best in the area next year. But he's no where close to Lochner or Hess right now.

I will agree with you that Maiers is one of the top young goalies in the area but as far as this year goes I don't think that you can say that Hess is by far the best goalie in the area. And as far as schedule goes, based on the minnhock rankings Apollo had the 57th toughest schedule and Cathedral had the 86th. Just throwing that out there.

Apollo has an inflated schedule because of games with teams like Moorhead and Roseau. Those two teams are ranked 2nd and 6th in AA. They also had one game with Little Falls, who is ranked 3rd in A according to PageStat. Those three games alone will severely skew the SOS numbers. As far as the entire season, Apollo and Cathedral SOS is pretty even. The Wright County Conferences top two teams are probably the same as the CLCs...and beyond that the WCC has a little more strength, IMO.

The conferences are pretty even and I'm sure the games against Moorhead, Roseau, and Small Falls do skew the rankings but the fact still remains that Apollo did play those teams. Cathedral had some pretty good teams on their schedule with Marshall and Denfeld. (2nd and 11th in A) but there really aren't any other huge names on their schedule after those two, same with Apollo and their toughest three opponents. The worst teams on Apollo's schedule are better than the worst on Cathedral's. After looking at the schedules a little more they're pretty even but I still give a slight nod to Apollo for the reasons above.

Could be my Apollo bias shining through.
