A nice win for the Royals tonight.... very close and clean game.
Rogers shots 30 12-7-11 2 goals in the 1st, and 2 penalties in the 2nd.
Champlin shots 27 5-11-11 1 goal in the 1st and 5 penalties 3 in the 1st and 2 in the 3rd.
One pipe for each team and both goalies played outstanding.
The one area Rogers did seem to dominate and that was in the fan section.

Great job Royals...keep er going!!

yea that game was awesome to be at...the atmosphere was great. I don't know if rogers really dominated the fan sections they had one chant the whole game which is, "champlin sucks." U must've be the idiot with the big Y on his chest 8) . Congrats to Rogers but have fun with Blaine saturday. No way they can win two games in a row against AA school.

This was a very fun game to watch. Rogers did impress me slightly more than I had anticipated. Not to over-rate them... I will say I liked Kupka. A lot. More than a friend. So much that I even debated apologizing to his brother for picking on him in Jr. High. If I ever cross paths with him... But seriously Kupka was excellent between the pipes, and Rogers 1st line was excellent as well. Not the deepest team in the state, but they all play very well together. They seemed to come out a little nervous, some defensive breakdowns right away, one of which led to a Champlin Park goal, but they regrouped and held their own after the first 10 minutes of the game.

The fan section was big, but very unimpressive. Unoriginal describes them best. A trendy group who was there because everyone was there, not because they were fans of the game. I stood by them for a period and all I could hear was the sound of chattering, you know like you hear at a mall? The buzz of many voices at once, almost like a pack of bees. No one paying much attention to the game. Probably louder than I've ever heard at a hockey game before.

p.s. I personally expect Rogers to eliminate Blaine. I don't think Blaine knows what they have in store for them. Not to say Rogers is a better team, but the Royals are an excellent receipe for an upset special.

Pray for the snow in the SE to take it easy and I'll be up in the Champlin area around noon on Saturday.

I really don't know yet, but I might as well go to one. I wouldn't mind seeing either or... It'll probably be a late night decision tomorrow.

What does The Forum specialize in? I'll get ya one of those. And I've already got your love, I just need to buy the friendship.

No way I'm going to Duluth. That drive is 6 hours and way too much gas. Plus I'm sharing a ride to Champlin and from the sounds of it, it might be rather difficult to talk him into that considering the weather that is expected. I shall try my best though.

Where are these games? In Champlin or in St. Paul like in years past? And don't tell me the wrong one so I go to the wrong place and look like an idiot!

The quarterfinals are in Champlin. Semi's & finals are @ The Coliseum. 7AA is in Oregon though, it's your call on that one.

Oh yea...why the heck was I thinking that it was semi's on Saturday already? Tonight's game had so much excitement it just didn't seem like a play-in game. We'll keep each other posted about Saturday.

I meant just the # of people there...for playing the home team in their rink in the playoffs...one would have thought Champlin would have out numbered Rogers greatly.
I do agree though gotta work on those chant's Rogers students!!!

And to the comment made that the "whole town was there" I say SWEET!.. it say's a great deal about how the community supports the program, I mean this is only their 4th season and they already have their own arena and a Conf.Title.......oh yeah that was probably not even half of what will be coming Sat. to watch em play against Blaine.

And so after all the talk about how "Rogers sucks" and "Yeah there just not good" I'd like to welcome the Rebels to the Mississippi 8 you'd fit right in.

Yes Champlin would fit into the Mississippi 8 just as well as Rogers does. I mean when were they ever good in NWSC anyways, but thats not saying much for Rogers, they beat a 8 seed by 1 goal Dont get too happy Rogers fans, you got a ligit NWSC team coming your way next.

Ray's reality check is right on the money....but IMO all the pressure is on the Bengals as they are expected to win.
Rogers can come in and just keep doing what they've been doing which is win games....it doesn't matter what Rogers doesn't have, or what the Bengals do have...it's what both teams have when the puck drops, it's 2 groups of HS players that are gonna leave it all on the ice as both want to advance.
I expect a good game and a great hockey atmosphere, Can't can't wait for this one.
Good luck and go Royals!

Couldnt agree with you more. One thing I know for sure and that is Rogers is going to leave everything out on the ice, so if Blaine doesn't anything could happen.

Good luck Royals.

Any why wouldn't they? As underdogs, they have absolutely nothing to lose and with no tomorrow, there is no reason to not let it all hang out. Blaine won't have the same mentality and that could end up hurting them.
