I can forsee a serious riot breaking out this year. I don't know if it'll be in the Dome, outside of the Dome, or where, but there are so many big time football fans in this state, in the state of building frustration, anger and their short fuses seem to be growing shorter. Sounds like the perfect receipe.

p.s. If you see a long hair skinny computer dork inciting this riot, do not turn him in.

You are right about that. There is no doubt that this is the worst shape this franchise has ever been in. They have had a few bad years, but they look like there is no end in sight to the bad as of now. Usually, I can regroup by now and have some positive offseason transactions to get fired up about- No way this year. I think they will actually be worse than last year. And that will take some doing.

That was pretty funny RSI.

But I hope Viking fans have a good sense of humpr because it could turn out the way you predict.

You could fill all 16 games full of Texans, Browns, and Lions and I think they best they could hope for is 4-12. The fact that Lions are the only team on that list that actually are on the schedule leads me to believe that 3-13 is wildly optimistic. This team will rival the Les Steckel Vikes.

And I bleed purple. Ugh. I'm gonna need another hobby this fall.

I've been fortunate to have a friend with a membership to a game farm. "15" and I, when not chasing grouse in boblee's neck of the woods, love to spend Sunday afternoons there. Hunting behind pointers and golf, don't make me choose...

Good point Neut, the fact that they're going to be terrible will free up a lot of Sundays. Now I can take a few more walks behind my GSP  , he's getting old so I need to take advantage of what time we have left together.

If this years team allows me a shot at a "Booner", I won't feel so bad. :)

I don't get how their biggest pick up is probably safety Mike Doss. Tank Williams, Darren Sharper, Dwight Smith. Let's stack our team at one position...at least we stacked up at Tight End and Wide Receiver when we snagged those studs Visanthe Shiancoe and Bobby Wade, respectively.

I used to be worried that they would move to L. A..
Now I am worried they might stay. :P

And then we will draft LaRon Landry.

Would not pulling up your pants count as an off-season move?

I think so ER.

Also, it could probably be considered at least as significant as all of the others they have made.

Vikings take
RB Adrian Peterson from Oklahoma in the first round
WR Sidney Rice from South Carolina in the second
CB Marcus McCauley from Fresno State in the third

Any thoughts on the draft so far?

CB Marcus McCauley from Fresno State in the third???? 4 career interception in 32 career starts are you kidding me

yeah first pick was great then it got bad we could of had Dwayne Jarrett who needs him right i guess we would rather pick sidney rice

Bad, bad move coming out early. He would've generated a first round type of buzz had he come back to the loaded Gamecocks and proved he could be a mature, consistent playmaker. While he's big and is able to come up with highlight reel grabs in the red zone, he mostly dominated the weak and the sad last season (five touchdown catches against Florida Atlantic) although he had a nice day against Arkansas. He needs a lot of work, a lot of work, to become a polished NFL route runner; don't expect him to be open.

o wait heres dwayne jarretts

The time, the time, the time. Forgetting that he dominated throughout his college career, forgetting he caught everything thrown his way, forgetting he made acrobatic catch after acrobatic catch, all that matters to the scouts was his turtle-slow 40 time. He's not Mike Williams; he can play and will be productive from day one.

based on this who would you pick?

I guess they could have done worse. If Peterson can stay healthy, he could be huge for a few years. Time will tell, but I think they had to take him. As far as the WR from South Carolina-anyones guess- can't do any worse than Williamson. (can't we get Moss back?)

I liked the draft. AP was the best available player by far period. Rice is going to be a work in progress, but would have been a 1st rounder had he stayed as dangla alluded to. McCauley adds depth to the defensive backfield and could have easily gone in the 2nd. The Vikes are clearly not going to be contenders next year, so hopefully these guys are keys to the future. Outlook's still bleak, but a potential gamebreaker in Peterson may at least make the games more entertaining.

Please don't call anyone I will eventually cheer for AP. :?

I like the Peterson pick, jury is still out on Rice nad McCauley was a stretch. Yeah he's a 6' CB. 4 CAREER interceptions. That should make him a second day pick or free agent sign.

You're looking way too much into numbers when evaluating McCauley. Interceptions are not a great benchmark for the production of CB's. He has all the tools to be effective in the league. I guarantee he would have gone shortly after had we not taken him. He's a boom or bust type player , easily a 1st day pick and his potential makes him worth the pick.

4 3(102) Brian Robison DE TEXAS
5 9(146) Aundrae Allison WR EAST CAROLINA
6 2(176) Rufus Alexander OLB OKLAHOMA
7 7(217) Tyler Thigpen QB COAST CAROLINA
7 23(233) Chandler Williams WR FLORIDA INTL

Rest of the draft.

Very impressed. I liked all our picks and while there were some players I might have taken instead of the ones we did, I have no major beef with the ones we did take. I think our top 3 picks were super solid and will perform better than people think. dangla, excuse me but you know nothing of what you talk about. Are you seriously just going off of what one website said?

I'll be honest, I don't know much about the NFL draft but what happened to Jarrett from USC? He ended the season as a world beater and then dropped like a rock. I thought he coud really make an impact right away at a position in need and it looks like the Vikes had a shot a him late.

I guess Jarrett's poor 40 time and his workouts must have devalued his stock.

For now I'll trust the men paid to evalute the meat more than what my own eyes saw on TV last fall.

I may be and part of that is they didn't throw to his side of the field too. IDK. I am going by Mel Kiper because I had not heard of this McCauley guy. The report on him is he had a great junior year but very poor senior year. Either way I think the Vikes had a pretty decent draft. Only time will tell how good it actually was. Look back in three years and see where these guys are.
