Taking on a "Will Harry Live or Die?" kind of aura, that final spot has tongues wagging in rinks from Bangor to Valencia. Word is that it is someone who hasn't returned their paperwork because they have been out of the country. Other theories say it will be an At Large pick of someone who was not at the NDCs?

Certainly makes for interesting pro shop discussions.

I was thinking more on the lines of Willy Wonka, who has that last golden ticket?

Have to agree with this assessment. Kid has been impressive each time I've watched her play.

No At Large picks. Just one player. The player will be picked from NDC participants, and be notified after the camps are complete this week. It is not someone who hasn't turned in paperwork, or is out of the country.

So... this is interesting... it may be a player that appears exceptionally strong out of the 15's?

It sounded like they were looking to see if that situation would occur, and stand above some players in the mix from the other camps.

Which leads to the question... Are they searching for a certain position more than another? I doubt it, as I assume they'd take a standout kid at any position at any age once they see the youngest group...

Alleva is pretty amazing I believe. Marcotte is a Saints player too I think? Also, my guess is that they won't look at stats alone - as one coach recently commented to me that often in a tryout festival like this it can be a lot of other kids that make great plays but get few points when others score... I'm sure they're watching everything... But the scoring is important too, maybe not as much so for the D though as I prefer some offense but outstanding D in a D sense too... I believe that Pendleton is the kid that I coached a HS game against a couple years back and she forgot her gloves coming to our rink. I gave her my own and she scored the GWG in OT against us with them! That Saints AAA team is pretty stacked with young talent in this age classification...

The roster shows only 7 defense and 12 forwards, so I believe they are looking for someone to add to the defense. But, who knows for sure. They usually only travel with a 20 player roster and they have 21 players already listed as members of the under 18 team, so maybe they are planning to take a team of 22 players this time.

Interesting point on the rosters. I know the U22 team has 27 players trying out for 22 spots. I wonder if there has been a change in the max number for the rosters?

I don't know which position they are looking at, though I do know that they are not happy with the skating, skills and game sense they have been seeing in the camps. Tough group to please, but the stakes have become much higher now.

Just to set the record straight, during the spring/summer Rose Alleva plays on the Icecats U16 team.

Sorry - I knew she wasn't a Saints player - I just meant "too" as in in addition to the others on the list...

Hux is right - they are just weighing the options and trying to decide which ONE of 2-3 girls. I still don't think it will be a 92.

I suppose it may be best though to at least "look at" the 92's before finalizing things.... If you did so before the younger group(s) finished up, that would look a little presumptuous and just not right I suppose...

In the minutes from the USA Hockey Congress, in the International Section, there is a list of the various IIHF events, which includes dates, locations, coaching staff, and NUMBER of players. All of the competitions show a 22 player roster.

How many more picks are left for this Holiday Festival. Colorado 92 was picked...... one more 92 to be announced when?

There are four D and one forward to be picked for the 18s, and one goalie, three D, and four forwards for the U22/022 group.

Could be one 92, could be more than one, could be none, as there has been nothing said about what birth years will make up the remaining slots. In all likelihood current U18 players will be named based on evaluations of performance during the fall.

Hunt is a forward at the last Development camp we attended. MWEHL(Colorado Selects, Team IL) , so for Turcotte she has good hands....as far as another 92 I think they are good group of 92, with Coyne. Team Il won Nationals (Hunt, Coyne). Kessel is awsome.

The Holiday Camp isn't a tryout festival. They will bring in 22 players, and 22 players will be part of the team for the World Championships. As far as stats, they have little bearing on who is picked, as ratings are achieved by first hand evaluations.

Hux, you have heard that there will not be players (U18) cut after the holiday camp? Some of the players were under the impression that several additional players were to be brought in and that there would be players sent home before the World Tourney. This really would make no sense if they are trying to get a team ready for a tournament. But you never know.

I hear a lack of commitment by the coaching staff, as if you are about to birdie and you switch your club? How can a player mentally committ knowing they can say there's the door? Get real with the team!! How are they evaluating players from across the country now? Do they send a camera crew to the players location or what???

Well, the roster says 22 players go in, and since I was told they will be taking 22 players to Calgary, I would expect those same 22 players to come out. There has, however, been turnover in the roster, so the "cuts" would be those from the summer squad that have not been invited back.
