Seems like there were several lads that followed Jordan Schroeder over to STA. Not all were from Lakeville.

Which brings up an interesting point.

Why would all of these Lakeville kids leave to go to STA just to play hockey in the Suburban conference and Class A?

Well, I am sure Neut, RLStars , and the boys will know the answer to that.
Everone knows its for the cool uniforms. Geez....

It doesnt matter where they are from breakout, the question still is the same: Why do they come?

The phobics have to believe that the reasons are some how sinister. They are there because they were recruited for hockey. The families were all hypnotized on a visit and tricked into registering at the school.

It cant be for the education, discipline and spiritualism that the ultra liberal public schools dont have the guts to offer.

We know because STA's favorite drum beater proves that point!

Wait a minute. Are you trying to tell me that red blooded American males actually choose to go there? I thought it was some sort of Totem Town.

Incorrect. As warrior2132 stated, Walters is doing a before/after with Des Moines this year.

There is no reason to believe any of the reasons are sinister, it is what it is...a choice based on any number of reasons. It's my belief that for many hockey is the reason. Chances are that STA will have tremendous success over the next several years so if the education is better and the hockey is good whats the problem? My question remains, with the new transfer rules what happens to the juniors and sopomores whose chances of playing have been drastically changed due to the sudden influx of so much young talent. AS for the split school theory, correct me if I'm wrong but Shroeder, Shriner and Crandall all left when there was just one school. Losing players is a forgone conclusion and something all associations will continue to experience.

It is the same everywhere, public or private. Every year, some graduate and some new ones come in.

Wait a minute, why are we talking about some catlicker school.

Hermantown is the champeen.

And on the big side, lil' ol' Roseau was better then the big subs and the big catlicker schools.

Must be a bunch of irish boys stirrin' things up.

Wait until Lent!

I was curious to see how many National Merit Scholar Semifinalists (for 2008) came from Lakeville and how many came from St Thomas Academy. I looked it up and the answer is: Lakeville South - 1, St Thomas Academy - 2 and Lakeville North - 2. Minnehaha Academy had 6 (but their hockey team isn't as good  ). NINE students from Minneapolis SW...Do they still have hockey there? EDINA had 19!

It looks like the education provided at Lakeville public schools is worth the tuition savings of going to St Thomas?

You do know that their is only 400 students roughly at STA. Take a look at college acceptance rate and overall SAT scores. Probably a better gauge.

Ya seriously, 700 or so graduating seniors at LV versus the 120 or so at STA. And also the PSAT isn't exactly "taught" or acquired knowledge as much as natural ability.

Ok..Slapper..you are right: Ryan Walters, Schroeder, Anders Lee all clearly went to STA for the education.

I didn't say that at all. Quite frankly it could be a good reason why the left early as well. I think the days of kids coming for hockey only might be done, as they realize they won't be getting an "easy" pass. No student is treated differently there, no matter who they are.

You mean if I walked my son up to the front door, he would have the same chance of being admitted as a star hockey player, and we'd both get the same amount of financial aid?

flatontheice,

Why would you go to STA for the hockey?

Its the Classic Suburban and Class A.

$15,000/year for that?

I dont think so.

Ok you got me with that one. Everyone who lives in the town of Centennial is rich. But don't they have Cretin'esque admissions criteria?

Hey, as long as you are Catholic, we'll squeeze yah in.

Even if you live in Centennial.
