LOL!!!

Funny thing is, that's pretty close to how I was pre-diet. The sideburns were almost an exact match. Yikes.

So I was driving by the Heritage Sports Center work site last Thursday and realized I had my camera with me in the car....so I snapped a few pics. They were working on the parking lots as I was driving by and I'm sure progress was being made inside of Heritage Arena, but it was hard to tell how far they were there. Still, a long ways to go for any games to be played there in January!

WDIO-TV and the Duluth News-Tribune are reporting this evening that the Heritage Arena will not be ready in time for this hockey season. They're hoping to have it ready by late February.

Two factors in the delay:

1) Heavy rains in October caused construction delays.

2) Sewage issues with the City of Duluth took weeks to figure out.

One cool thing is they're going to have a live web cam so folks can watch the progress inside the arena.

Today's Duluth Journal from Howie Hanson includes an article on the Heritage Center as well as a couple of pics from inside the arena.

Looks like it will be a pretty intimate place to watch a hockey game.

I am impressed with the ability of the community to raise $13 of the $16 million needed so far.
That's a lot of jing.
Nice work!

Looks like a pretty nice little joint. Might have to make a trip up next season.

It really is taking shape. It will be great upon completion.

1) Will they put turf down in early spring for indoor soccer?

2) Is this where the Duluth Choice Mini-Mite Hockey will house its league?

3) Are they using a refrigeration system or will they just open the doors and use the breeze off the lake?

The 1,500 seat hockey arena will become the home for Duluth’s youth hockey and (public) high school hockey programs.
