Blaine has the two at Fogarty(Some % they split with Spring Lake Park) and two at the Super Rink in addition to the 1/3 at Centennial.

Look at the facts...They have a beautiful new rink, one of the fastest growing communities in the Metro, decent coaching and people like CNT who will go the extra mile to make things happen. Rogers is a natural fit for the next outer ring suburb dynasty....give it 5 more years...
Better check your facts.... ER beat them at Bantam A, PeeWee A and Squirt A last year... Rogers is going in the right direction...but don't even think they will be the next Hockey Giant unless there is a new hockey store going in there next to Cabelas...

Captian Curt- I stated the reasons for my opinion...you are obsessed with a few youth hockey wins...let's take a look at the 2 Elite 1 players on Rogers and tell me if they will be playing for ER anytime soon? One sheet/eight sheets it doesn't matter...the school with the smallest enrollment in the tourney won the tournament last year...Rogers is advancing quickly and will do nothing but get better for years to come...

Um...I think that's a youth forum jab! :?

But didn't Rogers just spank your Bantam A's last weekend? and Rogers is a heavy 1st year group!

And also Rogers did beat the Elks in the 10,000 lakes HS tourney this past summer, and without a few of Rogers top players, who were you missing?

I'll refrain from responding to the community shot about retailers.

HOF is right, the smallest school with two sheets won the tournament. HOF list of reasons for Rogers success 1. beautiful rink, 2. growing community, 3. decent coaching - you hit the trifecta there HOF. Youth hockey is no indicator of future success either, right? As for Scattarelli, he may not have been good enough to stay at Elk River for hockey, just good enough to graduate from there in the spring with his friends. Jensen will be gone after this season as well, stay tuned...

You Elk River guys sure are jealous of Rogers! No one said Elk River is bad, we're just suggesting Rogers is an up and coming program....and I'm not even from there!

While not having the historical success of Elk River, ease up and let Rogers record speak for itself...the direction they are going is up!

Both of those players are captians and are well recieved in Rogers, no matter what their future intentions may be.
Scat will be a good leader for Rogers, and if he goes back to graduate with his twin sister at ER so be it...I would'nt think he would have got a letter jacket if he wasn't proud of where he's at.
Jensen has been fun to watch, and he also set's a great tempo for this Rogers squad, but if he goes to Jr's next year he'll be wished well.
But there are many other players on this team that are capable of holding their own.
So Bench Minor who's wagon are you on? you have not answered?

Anoka - 2 sheets, Blaine - 10 sheets (SSR inc.), Centennial - 9 sheets (SSR inc.), Coon Rapids - 2 sheets, Elk River - 2 sheets, Maple Grove - 1 + adding another, Osseo 2 sheets. It will be ten years or more before Rogers sees a second rink. HOF can you name a 1 rink hockey power in the metro?
By the time the numbers are booming and they make the big strides into state they will have the support and money to put in a new rink. Even if they dont get the new rink in time, they will go to other areas and get ice. EVHS doesnt even really have a home rink, they borrow AV's 2 rinks, STA's rink and used to have to go to S St Paul to get ice. Point is, they will buy ice elsewhere if they cant get enough in their own city. You just listed plenty of rinks around that area, I am sure they will use some of their ice.

Point is, Rogers made leaps and bounds in the last few years and good for them. I hope they continue to improve and can show the nay-sayers what is up.

Do I find it ironic that in the years that I was at Rogers, they had 10 wins combined, but in the years that I have left, they can do that in a couple months? I don't, but I'm sure someone else might.

Rogers WILL be a true powerhouse. Mark my words. How many years have they had an association? How many years have they had a HS program? The fact that they have a sheet of ice already is impressive considering that programs in the area (St. Michael, Monticello, Buffalo...) all had to borrow ice even though they had been in existence much longer than Rogers has been.

As far as 5AA goes, I see 2-3 teams that are better than Rogers. And I have no doubt that Rogers would be able to play with those teams and maybe give them a scare. They biggest thing that I'm unsure of this year is the goalie situation. Kupka was a helluva goalie and it will be tough to replace him.

Can't let this thread slide into the abyss. I know there is only so much to say about Rogers Hockey but my point is aimed at those of you in 'elite' communities. The fact is that the balance of power has and will continue to shift to the outer most suburbs in every direction....especially when it comes to hockey....

I wondered why Maple Grove hockey was tearing it up at all levels.

Cause you need $$$$$ (suburbs) AND you need numbers! One is good, both is better. I know, it still doesn't explain Maple Groves inability to become a power!

Although I wouldn't go as far as to say they will undoubtedly be a powerhouse in a handful of years, I will say I walked away quite impressed with the young Rogers program after they played Blaine tough last year. The truth is Blaine was bigger, stronger and faster but Rogers played very hard and if they can keep that mentality and continue to develop young talent they could turn out to be a nice program.

Well this seasons over, but I am wondering what is going to happen with this Rogers team in the off season.
The co-op with Maranatha, and Zimmerman is now over, it drops Rogers enrollment from 1712 to 996 well below the AA cutoff, even though they only receive a small handful (4 or 5) of players from Zimmerman and 0 from Maranatha, still did ok at the AA level.
Should or (will) they stay at AA ? or will they be reclassified?....again!

Is it better for this fairly new program to maybe make a decent run in A ? They return nearly everyone next year, or just keep slugging it out with the big boys.

I'm partial to staying at the AA level, but I'd like to hear some other opinions. :?

I thought Jordy Lehn was a senior, right? If that's the case, Rogers is screwed whether they end up in A or stay in AA, because that kid was the straw that stirred the drink. Loved watching him play.

I would hope that they'd opt up - particularly since the "sister" schools up there are both AA as well, I think I would be good for the kids to keep that in tact beyond just the regular season (just have to get ER out of 7AA in '10). Besides, if they opt up, it'll give all of us here another reason to point the finger at STA!
