Actually it would benefit many of east's fans who want to see some competitive games near duluth. As you said, Denfeld lost to East 8-1 and Central had less shots than East had goals. The only good game East plays against a duluth area team is Cloquet. A Marshall vs. East game would be great entertainment.

I agree that Denfeld has yet to prove themselves in big games. They are indeed, however, improving year-after-year for the past 3 years now. Starting in 2005 they had a winning season for the first time in a while finishing 15-12 followed by a 16-11 season in '06 and that was followed up with a 18-9 finish last season. Hopefully Denfeld will continue to win and perhaps rekindle the diminishing youth program. Especially, with the new rink opening up in January. That will be such a great atmosphere compared to the DECC and will be beneficial to the program.

Unless they get the "Extreme Home Makeover" team over to the new Heritage Arena there is no way it will be open in January...

Well it's supposed to be done by then anyways. Denfeld has a a bunch of games scheduled to be played there with the first one schedule on January 3rd. Don't know why they would schedule games there if there's no way it's going to be done in time..

There is another Jacques at East now, though I don't know if he plays hockey (he isn't on the East team this year, but could be playing at the bantam level for all I know).

Mike jauques was a great player back in the late 70's at Cathedral. I think he played on a line with Mark Pavelich at UMD and almost made the 80 olympic team. He had unbelievable hands. His oldest son john went to East and had the same skills--heard he burned out after 3 years in the program--anyone know what happened to him?

I think you are right, Mike Jacques played for the Toppers back in the 70's and was one of the last guys cut from the '80 Olympic team. My dad played against him in H.S. and used to talk about him and what an incredible set of paws he had.

Not sure why one son went to Marshall and the other to East, both are top shelf players who inherited their dads tremendous mitts. Maybe the Toppers run and gun style was a better fit for the offensive minded Dano.

East Should be playing the better teams in the surrounding area of Duluth!

I wouldn't say John has burned out; he's currently playing for St. Thomas in the MIAC. He's listed at 6'0" and (get this) 250 lbs.

Mike graduated in '76. I don't know about his almost making the US Olympic team but saw limited duty at tUMD from '76-78.

I know Mikes father in law and he said John got benched for rushing the puck too many times and didn't have much fun playing there. I guess he took a couple of years off and then went to St. Thomas to play. That is great to see because he was a real talent in bantams. Must be why Mike sent Danny to Marshall, I hear he has already been drafted in the ushl. can anyone confirm that?

Just because Mike Jacques was in Pavliches shadow doesnt mean he doesnt have a shot at the olimpic team.Ya Radolphs dump and chase style got John benched.He doesnt want Dano watching from the bench.Yes he got drafted by Chicago.Turns out Marshal was a good choice. P.S I heard that Mikes dad had a old phone booth in his backyard that he worked on his mits in.

I saw John this summer and he surely isn't 250 lbs. This is what the St. Thomas player bio says:

#4 John Jacques SR Def 6-0 220 Duluth/East

2006-07: Played in 14 games and had two assists… Accounting major with 3.30 gpa... 2003 graduate of Duluth East High, where he was hockey captain and played in state tournament as a senior... born 10-14-84... son of Vicki Jacques and Mike Jacques of Duluth.

East will reload and be strong as well marshall, but I think East would win if they played by a goal.

Ya! why don't they play hermantown or Marshall? Thats exactly who I had in mind. I was told by a East coach that the reason they dont play Marshall is because Marshall recruited there Players. Thats not a good enough reason for me. There plain scared to lose to single A TEAM, PERIOD.

You don't know much about East hockey, do you? It's okay. We're here to teach, but you don't appear to be a willing student.

My advice to you before my turkey wears off and I get weary of you (which happened while I was typing this response, imagine that) is to read some of the archives on the Board. Saves time for people like me to rehash what's already been explained.

In other words, you're a bore. Meantime, good luck to whatever Class A team you support this year.
