West Side is not a country arena, its in the west side of st paul. On Smith Ave. I believe.

West Side is run by and owned by Ramsey County. As is Johnson, Harding, Shoreview, White Bear, Biff Adams, Oscar Johnson, Highland and Pleasent (which is now used mostly by the St Paul Figure Skating Club, it's like 75 degrees and soft ice)

West ST Paul is Sibleys home, it is owned by West St Paul.

The Delano arena has been given the nickname "The Delano Icebox". I work there... My toes are numb at the end of a 4 hour shift, and thats with two pairs of socks on and boots! Although the arena is bad, we somehow got a loan to re-do the bleachers. Which now look a whole lot better!

Agree about Northfield Arena. But the heaters are a nice decorative touch, since they never turn them on. The cold threshold must be 50 below before the heaters get turned on.

I went to one game in Ely, and I was discusted with what there rink was like. It was a waist of time, I could have been partyen then stay in that god forsaken place.

I get a kick out of the whiner's complaining about the cold. Shows what kind of fems we're creating. Hockey is a winter sport that started on rivers and lakes it's suppose to be a cold weather sport you play it on ice for goodness sakes. Playing in the cold actually toughens a person up. I get a kick out of watching refs wear gloves too. Put the gloves away you get to warm up after a period or two, that's why you get a hot chocolate between periods hold onto the cup and warm up both your hands and your innerds. As a fan you have to know whether you'll need your longhandles and Sorels or you can get by with Merrells and a fleece. Be Prepared.

Some rinks I've seen that need help...Northfield, RLF although it's redone they need a better rink...what they have makes a dandy practice and youth rink. Someone mentioned Baudette, their new one is heads and shoulders better than the one they replaced. Park River ND may take the top prize as a garbage rink.

One that doesn't need help and several arena mangaers could take a lesson from is the one in EMO. Aged with character and absolutely SPOTLESS all the time. Besides they have Coffee Crisps, Toffee and Vinegar or Ketchup Chips with a Raisin (Grape) Fanta.

Does Park River still have the little tractor pulling the zamboni scraper/water?

I think Eveleth is such a classic you basically have to just let it go until it is no longer habitable, then say goodbye. Although I bet things could be redone very nicely with today's architects!

While Bagley was pretty bad I have seen many worse in ND... Bagley has actually recently added some seating and looks decent now with the help of the Sports Management program at BSU. They are lookin to clean it up even more over the next year or 2. Just make sure you bring your warm clothes.

I didnt mind the RLF rink, not much seating but it wasnt too terribly cold and you got a good view of the game and happenings on the ice.

The best part is there is no need to spend money on dry ice!

Any rink with small locker rooms sucks. (Buffalo, Burnsville, Edina (East Rink), etc)

Amen to that...the kids practicing late part.

The locker rooms could be a hair bigger in my opinion. Even Long Prairie's arena has bigger locker rooms than in LF.
