Not in the slightest. The original quote said "Bemidji will still get to state", and just think there is more competition in that region maybe. I could be wrong?

Hopkins has made a very nice climb, from #13 in the first LPH poll, all the way to #3 this week. They are very good to be sure, but #3 may be stretching it just a bit.

They struggled some on Tuesday against Armstrong, a team that was just 1-8 coming into the game, and won by just a 2-1 score (the Armstrong goalie was very good, making 35 saves). Their two blemishes are their 0-2 loss to Centennial, which is ranked below them (?), and their tie against Burnsville, a team that's now just 2-5-2 and no longer ranked (?). Their 3-0 win over Edina was very impressive, however, as are their wins over Cloquet, Minnetonka and North St. Paul.

But overall at this point I'd put them at maybe #5 or #6. QRF still has them at #12, probably because their strength of schedule has not been all that strong overall.

It really bothers me when a highly ranked team wins every game in a given week and LPH drops them in the rankings.

Agreed, very hard to figure. Could it have something to do with different evaluators doing the rankings from week to week? Don't know if this is the case or not, but they sure seem to be inconsistent.

Exactly..."QRF" does the very same. Keep winning...beat good teams...keep dropping.

Congrats to the Eastsiders ranked #8 in class A. They have played Crookston and Warroad tough this year but have yet to beat anyone except for Brainard which I'm not sure means much. Could someone explain to me why they are ranked so high?

I accept the flaws in a computer system. There is no reason for it in a human poll.

My only point is to convey my personal opinion that mathematically derived rankings, with the components used in the formula are not necessarily superior as per accuracy than a subjective human poll.

As for there being no reason for flaws in a human poll (if that's what you're saying) well, being humans, you have to expect opinions that lead to a particular vote will ultimately prove inaccurate from time to time.

In other words, no system is perfect...it's good they award the trophies based on results on the ice.

Correction is a noun that equals the amount of change made in correcting.
I'll have to agree to disagree.

Minnetonka just beat Duluth, yet Minnetonka stayed at 14 and Duluth stayed at 10? Saw Duluth girls at the Schwann cup; good skaters, good goalie, well-coached, but a close win over Mayo and loss to Tonka shouldn't have kept them ranked 10th. Duluth games vs. Warroad (1/5) and Edina (2/2) should be somewhat telling.

Good post, couldn't agree more. Not to mention the fact they were beaten in a close scoring game by Blaine and thumped hard by GRG just before Schwan. I would drop them behind Blaine and bump the rest with the exception of Centennial who I would also slide down a few spots. Having now seen each of these teams and about half of the single A leaders, I believe this to be a good set of rankings for the most part.
