Furne - you are probably disagreeing wiht me know but if you seen his game against Wyzata, yea, you wouldn't be. Wyzata's not exactly the worst team either - they're in the top 10 and furne and the rest of his team rolled over them.

Well you can take all the Class A players out of it, because unless someone can prove me wrong, I dont believe a Class A player has ever won it. State-wide conspiracy? YES :D

hey Walter, Gino Guyer of Greenway (THAT'S A SINGLE A SCHOOL) won in 2002...so,no, you shouldn't take the single A teams out of the running

there's a list of former Mr. Hockeys at www.followthepuck.com

oh, and Jake Youso's a contender to win it this year

I'm 90% sure that Greenway was AA when Gino Guyer played... Their switch to A was only 3 or 4 years ago.

Greenway was AA the year that Guyer won Mr. Hockey. But Johnny Pohl won Mr. Hockey in 1998 playing for Red Wing which is a Single A school.

greenway was AA in 2002. they didn't turn to A till 06. but i do agree with you in that an A player should be given the honor if he deserves it. It'll be tough for any kid in the north to get it (for class A) because of the weaker schedule. But as last proved the north has talent if ness was a senior it would be hands down but he's not and that's why its up for grabs

I think Jake Hendrickson of Burnsville (Duluth recruit) should be added to the list.

While there are a few real LONG-SHOTS on the ABOVE list...they are all quality players.

F- Joey Wikoff- East Grand Forks
F- John Grabanski- East Grand Forks
G- Alex Christensen- East Grand Forks

They have a pretty solid team this year they are going to be going to state. They have a very solid goaltender. He always comes in in the cluch. I have seen them play they have three solid lines. The first line Joey Wikoff (C) John Grabanski (LW) Jake Useldinger (RW) they are all captains and that is the most solid line in the section. Watch out they will dominate you when you play them.

Other than being a great hockey player, is there other criteria involved in the selection process. For example being active in communitiy and church or good grades.

If so, I would be curious to hear about the accomplishments of your candidates and their role in their community.

I don't mean to sound pestimestic, but you can probably take Ben Nelson off the list because he is going to be so over shadowed by Ness it's disgusting.

First of all, goalies can not win Mr. Hockey, they have their own award. Secondly, nobody from EGF will ever win Mr. Hockey. TJ Oshie couldn't even win after he lead his team to an undefeated season.

I'm sure glad EGF passed the referendum so they can hire their English teachers back.

Yes, I agree I will never win it. Because I'm not in high school anymore and it's a special award that is awarded to the best of the best. Not a couple of above average hockey players from section 8A. Like I said earlier, if TJ Oshie couldn't win it back then, how will these kids do it? Also, for your information, I've played in the state tournament, so that takes out the suck part. And by the way, Ness is a junior, if he wasn't he would get my vote which is just common sense. I find it hard to believe MSHSL (or whoever gives the award away) will allow a junior who's education is being advanced during his junior year to graduate sooner could win it. I hope I'm wrong.
