Great game last night. Roseville surprised me by their strong play. Stillwater and Roseville could easily meet again in the Kaposia.
First though it's Edina for Stillwater -- and Eden Prairie for Roseville (who also have a distinct possibility of seeing each other in the Kaposia semi-finals).
SEC Heating up

Stillwater crippled, without Dahl, Roseville on a roll and everybody else beating each other up. The races are really getting tight. On any given day I think one of these teams below Stillwater an Roseville might knock off either one of them. Hastings had the first shot. Lots of good hockey being played in the middle of the pack right now.

Excerpt from a local rag:
Ponies look Charp in win over Royals:
The Stillwater girls’ hockey team welcomed forward Lauren Charpentier back the lineup Tuesday night at the St. Croix Recreation Center in a 3-0 win over Woodbury.
Charpentier’s return paid immediate dividends as the junior had two assists in Stillwater’s win.
Allison Schwab scored twice for Stillwater and goalie Mara Sobczak stopped all 18 Woodbury shots to earn a shutout.
Stillwater (17-1-2, 10-0-1) continues to sit atop the SEC standings and will take on White Bear Lake at the White Bear Sports Center on Friday.
Glad to see Miss Charpentier back on the ice...a huge plus for the Ponies. Now if we could get #8 back in the lineup. Hope her recovery is going well and she gets to finish her junior season on the ice.

How about those Bears. I'm not saying they are going to knock off either of the two big dawgs, but they are primed for the highly contested third spot after they’re big win against Hastings. 3-0 and it really wasn't that close. Hastings came out real flat and never improved. Even Welsh looked somewhat average. Can't understand why given the importance the game had within the Conference standings. Next up Stillwater. Last time WBL's goalie stood on her head and gave the team a chance to sport the upset. Final was 2-1 in favor of the Ponies. Even though Stillwater out played White Bear the refs did take three pucks out of the Stillwater net but only put one up on the scoreboard. Had they been in a better position…. I’m not saying…but you never know. Should be a good game and may help determine if the Bears are for real.

Keep your eyes open Friday night against the Bears.
Something tells me she may be back that night.

I sure hope you're right. Either way, this should be a very entertaining game.

I don't know if the Bears are for real, but they are definitely are coming out of hibernation.

Myself, I think the conference title will come down to the final regular season meeting between Roseville & Stillwater. Of course, just one hiccup (loss) by either one between now and then could also decide the conference title.
The section...I dunno...haven't contemplated that much yet. Whoever wins the section will have to be playing excellent hockey...s'pose that's somewhat obvious. If the Ponies are healthy, I like their chances.

I'll say Stillwater for the conference champ and Roseville for the Section. I bet neither team wants to play WBL in the sections. Experienced(more important for playoffs than regular season) and a stud goalie who looks like she's playing very well right now.
The only decent pre-season prediction I made on the Section 4 thread:
Sleeper pick: WBL people have quietly been acting very confident this summer. I think they feel their seniors (10 of them?) are on a mission.
Right now you'd have to give HM the #3 seed in the section, meaning WBL will be #4 and play CDH at #5, and that winner will be on the same side of the bracket as the #1 seed. Not to take anything away from HM, but WBL is looking scarier right now and CDH is loaded with talent and a fresh stud goalie. The #2 seed might have the easier road to the section final.

Stillwater has had RV's number the past 3 years. Although i hate to say it I think they will lose in the Semis to the winner of the #4/#5 game. If the section final is RV VS Stillwater I will pick Stillwater because the have the stronger goalie.
HOwever, I believe it will be one of the BEST girls hockey games in the short history of our sport if they both make it that far.
IMO i think Section 4AA will be super exciting in the years to come. Hill, White Bear and Stillwater will only get stronger in the next few years. Should be quite the battle to make it out and to state.

I don't want to nitpick but:
A) Roseville's goalkeeping is not that bad
B) Their two goalies who split the duties each have GAA under 1.5 and they don't have to be spectacular with this team
C) They outscore their opponents almost 3-1

I do not think RV has a weak goalie by any means, I just believe WBL's and STillwater's goalies are stronger. I think RV's strength is in their 3 Forward lines because they don't seem to ever quit coming at their opponent. Stillwater has the ability to run with Roseville, i don't know if anyone else does.

How does Section seeding work? Is there a panel that decides based on opinion? Is there a format that is used like conference/overall record, poll ranking, computer ranking? Does head to head results count. Or is it a combo platter? The first two seeds are locks it's the third that will be contested. WBL has had by far the tougher schedule and has beaten a greater number of high ranked teams where as Hill has a better record but done so against weaker opponents. However they did beat WBL in their early meeting. Anyone know?

Roseville also has the best defense that I've seen in a long time. It's not just their goalies that are having a good year. I was recently talking to their coaches and they said that their D are solid top to bottom. They roll three sets all night. it seems that if they give up 20 shots in a game, they're having an off night.

This is the current 4AA based on QRF - I don't think KRACH is being caluculated by anyone. I think head to head does play in factor in seeding. This was as of today as does not include Tuesday night games.
Lots of great match ups if Roseville plays Woodbury - they had to go to OT to win one night and only won 2-0 last Saturday.
NSP - WB would be a war. CDH vs HM would be a battle - CDH has great talent but less depth than a year ago. HM played Stillwater earlier, outshot them but lost 1-0. The 1-4 and 2-3 games will be very tough and the final. No one gets out of here without three hard games.
4 Roseville (16-3-2) 103.9
6 Stillwater Area (17-2-2) 99.4
8 White Bear Lake (12-7-3) 91.8
12 Hill-Murray (14-5-1) 85.3
26 Cretin-Derham Hall (9-8-3) 70.5
33 North St. Paul (12-9-0) 64.5
42 Minneapolis (13-5-3) 58.7
57 St. Paul Blades (9-10-1) 46.0
58 Woodbury (5-17-0) 45.8
68 Tartan (2-18-0) 26.1

StarTribune article on White Bear Lake's recent success:
http://www.startribune.com/sports/preps/13956321.html
"Anderson, coach of White Bear Lake's girls' hockey team, has been busy guiding his team through a solid three-game stretch last week. The Bears (11-7-3) tied No. 1 Roseville 2-2, blanked Hastings 3-0 and beat defending state champions Stillwater 3-1."

I have little doubt in my mind that WBL is going to be very dangerous come section playoff time.
