There are plenty of great hockey teams outside the state of MN and RR is one of them. They would be and are very competitive in Minnesota.

ND/MN

RR is very good.

Now, when a MN team plays a nonconference foe like a ND team, it usually gives the coach an opportunity to play many players that do not get icetime in Conference games. Mostly fourth liners, but also to work on different powerplays.

To judge teams based on a one game outcome is at best "lame".

From past experience you should know that Roseau doesn't go into this game to experiment...neither does RR. They both play to win so...your comment is the LAME one. Are setting up for an excuse if the Rams slip hipcheck?

Red River has a very good program and are always well coached and very skilled. Without a question they would compete well in Minnesota. With that being said to say that Red River beating Roseau wouldn't be an upset is a little far fetched as Roseau beat them last year 4-1 with a majority of the same team back this year. Can the Roughriders beat the Rams? Most definately, but either way it would be an upset.

td577, You are correct. In 1990 the Rams lost two games that year of which one was to Grand Forks Red River at City Arena (Purpur) and the other to Grand Rapids.

Of course Minnesota has more top notch hockey programs, they just have more hockey programs in general. However, year in and year our the top ND team(s) can compete with the top MN teams. Red River is very good.

I hope Jefferson comes ready to play because this is not just another crappy ND hockey team.
Why don't you tell us since you're the only one who seems to know anything about them.
Goldy Gopher you should know something about RR, have you heard of Danny Irmen or Ryan Potulny, they are both guys form the state of ND and they both played for RR up until there sophomore seasons when they left to play juniors.

Interesting comment. What does the number of hockey programs in ND have to do with Red River being a top team? And why would a team that can skate with the best in Minnesota be considered mediocre just because they are from the other side of the river? By the way, I am from Wisconsin. I just like knowing the facts.

What does that have to do with the team this year?

Let me answer for you...absolutely nothing.

There is only one environment where the teams around you affect your identity  Div I College football

Ask any undefeated team from a non BCS conference.

As for RR, they are what they are, whether ND has 7 or 700 teams.

You are right. My point was that I believe RR can skate with the best.

CarGuy that was just God awful... your grammar as well as your premise shows your intelligence level.

No wonder people from outside of Minnesota feel that we are all arrogant fools when it comes to hockey. It's Nut Jobs like you, Goofy Gofer and the rest of the clowns with blinders on that give us all a bad name. :?

Undercover Hockey Lover Should I use capital letters in the correct places to appease you? I think I will follow all of your posts for the rest of the week and make sure you chastise every person who does not type in caps, or doesn't use spell check or correctly punctuate a conjunction. Unlike you, I am busy at work and don't have the time to sit here and type correctly, I would prefer to use my valuable time to get my message accross quickly to the retards like you post too many idiotic statements on here trying to look smarter than others. I am college educated? What do you do all day besides sit home and stroke it to Hockey Moms?

I have to agree with CarGuy on this one. Does it really matter if you are a good spellor or knot, or use proper punktuation? as long as you make a good point ime fine with any comment.
This is a Minnesota high school hockey site and yes ND top team Would Compete well against MN teams .

Ive seen them play once and they would probably not have a hard time competing at all during short spans. BUT since HS hockey in MN is so good and there are ALOT of good teams, it is hard to say how they would do if they had to play all MN teams. Maybe they would struggle because they arent used to the intensity of playing like teams here do. Then again maybe they would do just fine with it. I guess I just dont know how hard they have to push to win games in ND and how much harder it would be in MN. Yes they can come play a weekend tourny and be pumped up and play well. But can they play like that for a full season?

Actually, the manufacturing system I use at work is very slow and when I'm running my reports and/or utilities I have plenty of time to post. I also don't have to take my time typing as I'm pretty good on a keyboard and am able to type my thoughts...unlike you. I just figured I'd beat Angus Young to the punch as today's spelling and grammar gestapo. :P
