There are plenty of great hockey teams outside the state of MN and RR is one of them. They would be and are very competitive in Minnesota.

From past experience you should know that Roseau doesn't go into this game to experiment...neither does RR. They both play to win so...your comment is the LAME one. Are setting up for an excuse if the Rams slip hipcheck?hipcheck wrote:RR is very good.
Now, when a MN team plays a nonconference foe like a ND team, it usually gives the coach an opportunity to play many players that do not get icetime in Conference games. Mostly fourth liners, but also to work on different powerplays.
To judge teams based on a one game outcome is at best "lame".
Red River has a very good program and are always well coached and very skilled. Without a question they would compete well in Minnesota. With that being said to say that Red River beating Roseau wouldn't be an upset is a little far fetched as Roseau beat them last year 4-1 with a majority of the same team back this year. Can the Roughriders beat the Rams? Most definately, but either way it would be an upset.wishock wrote:I would consider it an upset if Jefferson beat RR. Not an upset if RR beat Roseau or any top rated team in MN. Through the years the Grand Forks high schools have had strong teams. Game is at the Ralph, I believe. GF Herald tournament.
Of course Minnesota has more top notch hockey programs, they just have more hockey programs in general. However, year in and year our the top ND team(s) can compete with the top MN teams. Red River is very good. The Best 4th Liner wrote:What you North D@kotans are not understanding is that the state of Minnesota has about 50 times the amount of hockey programs that ND does. So Red Rivers chances? About the same as any mediocre team in Minnesota. SLIM TO NONE!
Goldy Gopher you should know something about RR, have you heard of Danny Irmen or Ryan Potulny, they are both guys form the state of ND and they both played for RR up until there sophomore seasons when they left to play juniors.Goldy Gopher wrote:Why don't you tell us since you're the only one who seems to know anything about them.SiouxYAYA wrote:I don't know much about Jefferson, I hear they have an excellent forward in O'Donnell but I really don't think they will be able to beat RR. I have watched Edina play and I honestly think that RR would give them a run for their money. We will just have to wait and see on December 21st at the Ralph. I hope Jefferson comes ready to play because this is not just another crappy ND hockey team.
Interesting comment. What does the number of hockey programs in ND have to do with Red River being a top team? And why would a team that can skate with the best in Minnesota be considered mediocre just because they are from the other side of the river? By the way, I am from Wisconsin. I just like knowing the facts. The Best 4th Liner wrote:What you North D@kotans are not understanding is that the state of Minnesota has about 50 times the amount of hockey programs that ND does. What does that have to do with the team this year?SiouxYAYA wrote:Goldy Gopher you should know something about RR, have you heard of Danny Irmen or Ryan Potulny, they are both guys form the state of ND and they both played for RR up until there sophomore seasons when they left to play juniors.Goldy Gopher wrote:Why don't you tell us since you're the only one who seems to know anything about them.SiouxYAYA wrote:I don't know much about Jefferson, I hear they have an excellent forward in O'Donnell but I really don't think they will be able to beat RR. You are right. My point was that I believe RR can skate with the best.Ram Hockey wrote:Red River has a very good program and are always well coached and very skilled. td577, You are correct. In 1990 the Rams lost two games that year of which one was to Grand Forks Red River at City Arena (Purpur) and the other to Grand Rapids.
CarGuy that was just God awful... your grammar as well as your premise shows your intelligence level.CarGuy wrote:SiouxYAYA....i am going to go and look and see if there is a north dakota forum so i can go and ask people how competitive, say sleepy eye would be if they played in ND....but to answer your forever hypothetical question is like asking if the easter bunny or santa clause is better on skates
