Lee the only reason you are "skeptical" is because it's concerning Duluth East. The girl is playing for a school where there is already a girls team. The whole thing is bush league.

My first question was to try and find out first of all if it is allowed by Minnesota hockey league for a girl to play on the boys team. I didn't mention the girl in the first place because I wasn't sure if it was TRUE.

The answer is, obviously, it's allowed. What, you think the coaches at East would do this without being absolutely sure of the position, in light of how there are people who are dying to catch Mike, Terry and Larry in an indiscretion? The coaching staff knows there are people looking for something, anything, as an excuse to try and push their agenda a second time; specifically, to have Mike dismissed as East's coach.

Did you consider that East doesn't have their own girls team, that they're in a co-op?

I believe this is at itle IX issue and Supreme court issue.

I have read (since I am so old I cannot put my finger on it), that since boys and girls hockey is inheritently different (checking) girls can play on boys teams, regardless of what MSHSL or Duluth East says.
Girls are allowed to participate on boys teams in contact sports where similar teams are not available for girls.

Perhaps we have a constitutional attorney somewhere on the board that can give us the details.

If a girl makes the boys team in high school, the only thing you should say is congratulations.

well..last year at my school a girls soccer player decided to play on the boys team even know we did have a girls soccer team and they let her.... and she probably was one of the best on our boys soccer team...

I don't think there is a restrictoin about girls playing on a boys team if the school has a girls team.

Recall that Krissy Wendell played boys hockey (JV team) at Park Center until her junior (I think) season, then went over to the girls game and dominated. Had she played her entire career with the boys, she would be right up there with the girls all-time leading scorers.

Jen Hanley played with Edina's team, but that was in the days before girls hockey.
