CDH handled Stillwater and Forest Lake - two teams I believe to be quality. Maybe not "top" but still good teams. STA has a good squad too, you can't deny that. The rivalry between the two schools is gonna make this a big game even if neither of the teams have a won a game all year. It will be a good game.[/quote]
i dont see beating stillwater in overtime as handling them...
but i'm still going with CDH

Beating Stillwater with the top Defenseman out and a goalie playing his first game of the year. Next one will be much different outcome.

Raiders pull their goalie and it goes 4-2 Cadets final, with an empty netter.

Nice game for the Cadets. The Soph goalie, Altrichter, played very well. Thanks for the entertainment boys! Kudo's also to FSN for carrying HS hockey!!!!

Whew...I was hoping my picks wouldn't start out like last week when Brainerd crapped out on me in the first game on the list.

Zeke16 I agree with you as I watched the game I grew frustrated with the players that are to be future Gophers. They play the same lazy look at me style the gophs play. You dont just show up and expect to win. Score 3 goals and wow we are so good lets coast. I did enjoy watching CDH played well and I licked there never quite attitude. I think St Thomas needs to stop the flashy play and get thier nose in the game and work harder. Maybe they could enter the Ice Capades.

You won't have to worry about Walters. He'll be in the USHL the next two years

You must be such a big fan of the kid that you can't even spell his name correctly.

I hope he learns to play every shift and every game. A kid with the potential and skills He has will be fun to watch. Maybe he is bored?

Fun game. 2 good high school teams. A lot of good hockey players.
CDH has had trouble in the 1st period all year. They have to be beat on awhile before they get going.
It was nice to have so many Catholics under the same roof. Parking the limo was a problem as there were so many of the stretch variety all trying to get close to the front door. The red carpet was a nice touch.
I think I have developed an allergy to mink because I was sneezing all night .
We noticed a lot of eighth graders walking around with cash stuffed in their pockets and new Ipods. I wonder why that would be.
Gopher Blog's hero Lucia was there. Boys Town must not have been playing last night. I am sure he wasnt watching any of the CDH kids. Kids like CDH players McDonogh and Hickey wouldnt fit in at Minnesota. They are winners.
Fun night.

As evidenced by their run through the State Tourney last year.
Oops... wait a minute... I think I might be wrong about that.

You are , as usual. It was the 2006 state championship as most people know.
Its good that Gopher Blog can keep his sense of humor while Lucia picks the wrong guys and his team splits with Anchorgae and Tech..at home.

I agree with Packerboy. It was ridiculous finding a parking spot. I imagine that isn't a problem for South St. Paul. You would be hard pressed to see a well attended game at Wakota. If you don't want to mingle with the "have's" then watch the game at the Croatian Hall. You Packers might enjoy the smell of decaying meat, but us hoity toity STA fans are much more accustomed to the arromatic rich scent of new BMW's.

Well. Well. Another Class A "bsquad" team beats big bad class AA CDH. Congrats to STA for again proving the that great class A teams can compete with anyone in any Class!

Goldy23........what do you have against CDH you ripped on them after Breck and now after a game against STA in which they mounted a good comeback against a good opponent. You are a freaking idiot, STA should be in AA - they just are too afraid they won't make it too state and will not be able to tap those metro pipelines they use to fill up their roster.

Ah Goldy, why dont they play in AA then?
A teams can beat AA teams all year long. When it gets to the end, its still the Bsquad tournament.

SPH,
I have nothing against CDH. It's just that "BSquad" stuff that I don't agree with. My point is that a hockey team should be judged by it's talent and not by what class it plays in. Puckerboy wants to assume that all class A schools are B-squaders and aren't worthy of whatever consideration or recognition they receive. It's that silly mentality that makes me laugh when his "AA" team keeps getting beat by "B-squaders". As for the comment about they should be in AA, it's not always that easy. Some schools simply won't allow their athletics teams to move up no matter what the talent level is. At Breck for instance, it has nothing to do with being afraid, its just that the administration right or wrong won't put athletics above education, or a particular sport above others.

Yes its not an issue of the hockey program choosing not to move up to AA, but the administration not letting any program move up

Well said GOLDY. I'v'e only been on this forum a short while, but i still can't figure out if it's a jealosy thing or pure ignorance. The Private school issue, A vs AA seems to come up alot. What difference does it make what class there in. Both schools have a lot of very good hockey players. So you take Breck, St Thomas, Blake, Duluth Marshall etc. out of the A Tourney what do have left. Waterville/Elesian VS. Foley in the championship of class A? I would tend to agree that even if the coach at St Thomas or Breck, or any where else wanted to move up. Fear would probably not have any thing to do with it. Education should over ride all else.
