Sorno, You're right! I shouldn't be so defensive. Since I'm part of Minnesota made. I'm sick of people taking shots. Without a doubt. Minnesota made is a great program for Mites.

Have you seen the team play? The coach's son is not the only first year squirt on the team and definitely belongs.HockeyDadMN wrote: This years Edina Squirt A team was built last year by the squirt A coach, who brought a bunch of first year squirts (and MM players) onto the A team, so they could get experience before his son joined them this year as a first year squirt. Edina has a a rule not allowing "A" team parent coaches and a rule that gives preference to 2nd year players, but they didn't seem to apply to the squirt A coach.
It's no wonder why parents are looking for alternatives to associations.
Sounds like *someone* read the article from the Strib about the Rhode Island coach who turned his school into a hockey machine. Closed practices for something like 20 years. Only let Orr or Howe (can't remember) watch the practice one time. And only for 20 minutes.waylon wrote:The machine and deuce practices will be closed next summer,so nobody will be able to steal the secret formula that turns 10 yr old puddle jumpers into NHL prospects!what do all the experts think of this strategy?
I don't care who you are, that'f funny right there!Lily Braden wrote:Are they going to go GITMO and hand everyone a black hood when they come in?
Tomass or is it dumass, then go read about the Peewee Bantams, and stay off this thread if it bothers you, thats an easy fixtomASS wrote:Lee- just give MM their own forum. I enjoy reading about PeeWee and Bantam.
Parents worrying about Mite and Squirt age players is just too funny in so many different and wrong ways.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I don't need to read or respond and will probably be more discerning in what topics I look at in this forum.
Give them a forum, put take advantage of their business acumen by having a business model that you can profit from.
There's that charming personality rising to the surface again. Isn't tomASS the one that put ASS in his name? Would you be offended if someone referred to you as freakout?breakout wrote: There's that charming personality rising to the surface again. tomASS- Once again. If you don't like this forum. Go Away! It looks like people like chatting about Mites and Squirts. Please spare me with the Mite and Squirt parent routine. It's getting old. Just like you.tomASS wrote:Lee- just give MM their own forum. I enjoy reading about PeeWee and Bantam.

Yeah and they usually mature some by then and their reality isn't clouded so much. One though, I know, will never comprehend the simplest conceptsRobRay wrote: Be patiant boys, mite and squirt parents will be peewee and bantam parents soon. And guess what! You will still be reading their posts.

Gilmour- Please keep in mind that what you wrote has nothing to do with the Choice Mite league. Minnesota made AAA and Minnesota made Mite league are two totally different worlds. Bernie does create the practice plans for the coaches to follow.gilmour wrote:i have seen a child singled out, during practice, on two occassions and belittled on the ice to the point of crying (hence my point of needing to close their practices rather than change their style)...i have seen interesting tactics during games that seem to push the limits of creative instruction/motivation.
I have also seen some pretty darn good hockey players come out of there - their style is what it is...demanding with a high level of accountability...most people that are going to argue against MM will say that it is too much for a 10, 11 or 12 year old kid and that it could end in a kid peaking at an early age and then lose interest.
If you go in thinking it is going to be like association hockey than you are going to have a problem...association hockey is the benchmark and if you go above and below that benchmark you are going to get called on it at some point in time.
tomASS- Are you allowed to use the word mature? I didn't think it was in your vocabulary?tomASS wrote:breakout - thanks for the support, but if thats the best they got, they'll have to do much better.

No check peewee eh? and this is someone who says it's all about winning at every single level. If so let them play by the rules of the age.
It took until your 3rd post to figure out this thread wasn't about Peewees and Bantams?tomASS wrote:Lee- just give MM their own forum. I enjoy reading about PeeWee and Bantam.

Quit worrying about Minnesota made.Truthbetold wrote:What does "Choice Mite" league mean? That these are the best kids from a tough and extended tryout process against thousands of kids, or they had the choice to pay or not?![]()
It does sound like a very good program to develop kids that have the interest, ability, time to devote, thick skin, and cash flow. Let the associations learn and build better practices, offer more hours and provide a "level" to build numbers by offering a good program with less commitment and less expense. Seems like the two can fit nicely. Does MM offer a low cost, low commitment alternative?
Either way, choice is nice. Just stop trying to get people to drink the Koolaid.
