East has two competing teams this year. (Denfeld and East) with east always being a top team. every year we have 3-4 months of rinkratting and it is a great sight to see the mites and batams playing together with bantams teaching. great to see.

Warroad is home to USA Hockey Olympians: Gordon Christian, Billy Christian, Roger Christian, Dan McKinnon, Henry Boucha and David Christian.

The US Hockey of Fame, has inducted five members from Warroad.

Warroad has sent over 50 former Warriors, the high school hockey team, to Division 1 hockey programs since 1947.

Cal Marvin, a member of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame for his 50 years of work with the sport. Marvin helped establish the northern Minnesota town of Warroad as "Hockeytown USA." Over the years, Warroad, which has less than 2,000 residents, produced an impressive string of Olympians, professional standouts and amateur stars. In the late 1940s, Cal Marvin founded the fabled Warroad Lakers, a senior league team of post-collegiate stars that skated with the best in the world. Marvin also helped found the men's hockey program at the University of North Dakota where he played collegiate hockey.

Won the Canadian Intermediate Championship in 1964 & 1974.

To settle this once and for all. The reason they call Minnesota the State of Hockey is this very reason everyone could beat this topic to death. We are all very proud of our hockey history and heritage. Lets just be the envy of everyone else in our country.

Warroad hosted and sponsored the Lakers. During the Allan Cup run, close to half the team was Roseau Alumni!

Great hockey and just a nice example how the two towns can unite to win championships!

Just think what could happen "IF" it ever happened at the High School level?????

Roseau, home or the Rams, proud of their heritage, defending state champs, too proud to play in their own level. The population of Roseau is very near the population at any of these suburban TC schools on a given school day, and they still win. All we have to do is look at last year's state tournement to settle the fact that northern MN is home to the town. Warroad has had a heckuva lot of players, but there is skeptisism as to where they come from, no such arguments are made against Roseau. In fact if we use the last true stud out of the Warriors program we have to give the title to Seattle..........but the people of Warroad love their hockey too, ..............

Goldy Gopher, you are exactly right. I bet there are a few thousand people in Edina who don't care at all about hockey, and have never so much as played a pick up game with friends. Towns like Roseau and Warroad are obsessed with hockey throughout the majority of the population. Don't get me wrong, Edina has a great hockey tradition and history, but hockey is just another activity among many in this large suburb.

Lemme see... Edina's basketball team just lost to St. Bernards, and I dont remember them ever doing much in wrestling either. Yep, they're a hockey community! Enrollment means squat also.

Nothing but an argumentative thread. So many communities have contributed so much, so many people have volunteered their time, that to pick one would be a huge disservice to the others.

Just to prove your point, could you post a roster and point out the 51%+ that were RHS graduates? I know all of those Allan Cup teams had current WHS players on the roster, i never saw a current RHS player on the team though.
