[/quote] This is a glory year for Park Rapids. Their mites will emulate these guys and work just a bit harder and another cycle will pop up down the road somewhere, then again, and again...
if Stahnke and the youth people do things right.

I hope they do, this is the State of Hockey, not just the Roseau or Edina of Hockey.
Go watch a good hockey team sometime, go watch Park Rapids this year.

This is a glory year.

And like Shanty says....

IT CAN HAPPEN!

It is nice knowing that PR can play with a developed/well rounded team....they played hard and had a big win....hopefully they can keep it going....I dont think PR fans can get to cocky...look at warroad fans....... :-s

19-0-0...... :D

I agree sioux, the fans cannot get too cocky and the great fan support will only fire the team up more and more. PR was definitely pumped up by probably the largest crowd ever at a PR varsity game. The team feeds off of that energy and there will be plenty of people to travel to the playoff games.

PR fans aren't getting cocky and neither are the players...they are just excited about this uncommon and very successful year...lets face it...they do have something to cheer about...easy schedule or not you still have to perform every game, and thats what they have been doing...i wouldnt send warroad off to state quite yet...PR could make some noise come section time.

There is no way Park Rapids will go to state this year. They haven't played a team above .500 all year. Once they get to sections they will get pounded in the first round. Their coaches need to schedule some real games if they ever want to contend.

They will get Red Lake Falls in the first round of sections.
They have beat Red Lake Falls.
Semis, they will get Thief River or East Grand Forks. They have already beat them.

And they have not played many over 500 but they have.

How did Warroad do against TRF?.....was that an ovetime game...im not exactly sure if i remember correctly....
What's your point Sioux? Roseau only beat TRF 4-2, so does that mean PR is better than Roseau because PR beat TRF 4-0? Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Section 8 fan, and get alot of satisfaction knowing that we have the only 2 undefeated teams in the State, but until PR can represent Section 8 at the State Tournament, they are not gonna get much respect from alot of people on this 'bored'.

Anything is possible, and Park Rapids is a fun team to follow since they arent the traditional top 10 team...that being said, good luck on the quest for state, i think it'd make a pretty good story

Not that it makes much of a difference but they have played teams above .500, not many, but they have...

Northern Lakes (twice) - 15-4-1
Kittson Central - 10-7

So, that's three games, and St. Bernard's is 8-8. There are a lot more who are 1-3 games under as well. The point is they WILL NOT lose in the first round. They will most likely play LOW and won't lose. Then they will have to play EGF or even possibly TRF. Besides Crookston (who they play down the road) they have beaten all these teams, so I like there odds to make it to the championship. The fact is that they proven with wins over EGF, TRF, LOW, KC, RLF, Bagley, and RLF that they are one of the two best teams in the section. I'd like to see play Bemidji but that probably won't happen unless they meet in the final.

seedings, as of Jan. 25:

1. Warroad - highly unlikely to change
2. Park Rapids - highly unlikely to change
3. East Grand Forks - if they beat TRF, they are the 3 seed
4. Bemidji - beat TRF and they will be 4
5. Thief River Falls - beat EGF and Bemidji to get 3 seed, beat Bemidji or EGF and get 4 seed
6. Crookston - tied LOW but play tougher schedule
7. Lake of the Woods - beat KC
8. Kittson Central - beat RLF
9. Red Lake Falls - by default
10. Bagley - winless, but play teams tougher
11. Walker - winless

This is all assuming that there are no huge upsets like LOW beating TRF or Crookston beating Warroad or Park Rapids.

how many times have a TRF/EGF or even LOW or Crox for that matter played in a pressure filled section game and succeeded. We all know TRF or EGF is a contender year in and year out. they are used to the pressurer. Crox and LOW had a nice run in the past several years so they too have experienced the big game (section wise) Park rapids will get into a high pressure situation in the semi's or finals and fold like a house of cards.

its a cute feelgood story for those fans of PR though. Keep up the good work guys.

They may fold in sections....they may not....but the way I see it...Thursday night was a pressure packed situation for the panthers. Not only was about 70% of the people in Minnesota High School hockey predicting them to get beat, but Pr also kept an undefeated season going.

And, most inportantly if PR would have lost Thursday, they would have probably been looking at a five seed. I Think was plenty of pressure on them to win on thursday, there was a ton on the line for just that one game.

Sorry SinBomb, but playoff experience is completely different than the regular season.

Real possibility as long as they keep the eyes on the prize. Still have to get to the post season, then win 3 straight tough games...
