after the johnson-stafne-hotchkin line, no one on denfeld can score. marshall is much deeper although when denfelds first line is on the ice, they will have to depend on whoever is playing goalie (paul or messina) to keep them in it because those guys can fly.
if marshall shuts down denfelds first line, this has the potential to be a blowout in the hilltoppers favor, however that isnt what i'm expecting.
denfeld fans should hope that they start skurich in net, otherwise it could be a long night for the hunters, still might be.

minnesota scores says this game is home for Marshall. Anyone know for sure where it'll be played?
If you could just compare common opponents the STA/DM game would've been a one goal game either way. But you can't. Based on common opponents this game should be close, maybe even in Denfeld's favor. But if you then consider the losses Denfeld has gotten it's a different story. Should be a good game.

I'm saying you can't use a common opponent or two to say who should win by how much. I take Marshall by 2.
Anyone know where it's being played?

It's at the DECC (8:00) and it is a Denfeld home game.

i was almost right on my prediction.....with just under a minute left marshall shot the puck to the empty net and was about 1 foot from going in....im pissed...and that stafne fellow is a real tool....he tried to take on the whole marshall team after the game because he is a sore loser....if i was that kids dad i would beat the crap out of him

Yea, it was quite a scrappy game. There is always a brawl at the end when these teams meet. This was a great game. Marshall did a good job at shutting down Denfeld's line. Without Mausoff, DM isnt the same team, but David Hafferty had a big game. Tonight, he was the better #18.

O yeah sore loser huh.. thats a joke marshall was out played and out shot.. they got lucky on a bad turnover to win it!! From my view in the stands... I think it was better for Denfeld to lose to keep them in check and i feel bad for whoever has to play them next!

Looks like they play CEC next and I think they've lost 4 in a row. I would not find comfort with DM missing a top player along with other issues. DM is the better team and again the "W" proves it. I know two goals came against the DD 1st line. To say the least, I was not impressed with some of the calls.

I think Denfeld probably deserved to win this one. I thought Paul made some huge saves to keep Marshall in the game. I recall two or three on Stafne in just the first period.
Regardless it was a very entertaining game between to very good teams, especially the third period.
-Quote from Marshall head coach Brendan Flaherty from the Duluth News Tribune:
“It’s rare for us to steal a game, but I thought we stole that game”

Great game to watch tonight, I think it would be unreasonable to say either team dominated. Denfeld lead in shots, DM lead where it counts. Each team had 7 PPs and it came down to a SH goal by DM. I feel really bad for Denfeld's D who gave up the puck right in front of his own net. Still don't know what he was thinking there but it lead to the third goal for DM and what turned out to be the final goal of the game. Congrats to both teams for playing a very well fought game tonight. For those of you who are convinced DM is so much of a better team: read the Flaherty comment in the post by PuckRanger. Seemed to be very evenly matched tonight from my perspective.

Agree great game lastnight ! Could have gone either way bad break for the hunters giving up the short handed goal. Im sure no one is more upset then the Johnson kid. Marshall escapes with the win. Both goalies played great. Paul robs Stafnie a few times with the glove saves. Altogether I would say 2 great teams ! Both look like they will be tough to beat come playoff time ! I think the the Hunters will be hungry after losing lastnight ! Look out Jacks !

That would be a nice match up again, at the X in March.
