Mike Lee has definitely been HUGE for the Rams since takin' over the job last season. Undefeated in his Varsity career, 31-0 (if i counted correctly  ) Oh, and 8 shutouts on the season thus far.

Neither. It's White Bear Lake. Main difference is, Roseau and Edina have reason to have big egos. Image

Lee
Well after the Duluth East game we would have a reason. haha but that is neither hear nor there Roseau is undefeated and the defending state champs they are the better team until March comes around and someone proves that wrong.

I agree. A great goalie is the greatest difference maker for any hockey team, and as far as HS goalie's are concerned, Lee is one of the best. He has a .947 save percentage. He's allowed just 18 goals this season on 340 shots. That's one goal every 19 shots. Mike Lee IS Roseau's greatest difference maker, and he will play the greatest role in Roseau's run for another state title.

Yesterday was the first chance I had to see Mr. Lee in the nets for the Rams. He is the real deal with great fundamentals and reflexes. There were at least four NHL scouts in attendance to watch him play. And Ness could stickhandle in traffic in a phone booth. The Rams are not a very big team but you can tell they have grown up playing "rink rat" hockey!

WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE?

I have to disagree on this one...Ness, the other D and the over-all team offensive and defensive game Roseau plays is the greatest difference maker for this team...how many difficult saves does Lee make each game?...don't get me wrong, Lee is an excellent goalie...earning a D1 deal with SCSU proves that...but case in point...his stat line in the HS Elite League was 509 minutes played; a 89.4% save % and a 4.478 GAA...and granted... this is a very offensive oriented league....but my point is that Hanna and Flip had much better stats than Lee...because they had a much better team in front of them....same goes for Lee's stats with Roseau during the winter.

I have no idea who is better, Edina or Roseau...I have a feeling that will be determined at the Excel Center. However, there is no doubt that Edina plays a tougher regular season and Section Play-off schedule.

Look at the teams Roseau has played, it's easy to have numbers like that when they don't play anyone good. I guarantee his numbers wouldn't be nearly as good as that if Roseau actually played good teams like Edina, Tonka, Hill, Benilde, Rosemount, or Duluth East. I really think we can't really compare Roseau to other top teams in the state because Roseau has a ridiculously easy schedule that's easy to go undefeated in. If Roseau played a schedule as tough as the ones Edina or Tonka have, I think they would have a few losses. I guess we'll have to wait for the state tournament to see how good Roseau really is.

But they havn't played a top ten team. Edina would go undeafeted easily with the schedule Roseau has. Edina is the most talented team in the state and they have played the best this season so they are the best team in the state.

i agree they havent played the toughest schedual but to still be undefeated means you have to still play good and not make as many mistakes as the other team. its easy to have a couple bad games and loose no matter who u are playing and they still have the 0 in the loss colum. so there for im saying roseau is the better team but ill be there to watch both teams play at the X. assuming that both make it and wish both the best of luck

i laugh listening to you cidiots all the time about schedules.. you have this serious misconseption that its so easy to play up here all year. why dont you ask the eden prairie peewee team how easy it is? their the third ranked team in the state sit down in the metro beating everyone one. they come up here for alittle 5 game road trip and go down south with one win. the teams up here arent as bad as you think they are. trf is a solid team moorhead is solid warroad is solid ect.. all these teams are capable of beating many metro teams at any given time. so get off your high horse and wait to see what happens in a month when trouble comes to town to put a sock in that huge pie hole.

Roseau - defending champs

Defending champions are Roseau.

Edina lost in the first round to Grand Rapids, then went on to win the Consolation bracket.

Edina lost Reber and not much else and seems to be pretty good this season. You disagree?

Roseau deserves all props. Ness is very good and controls the puck and game, Lee is undefeated as a varsity goalie, balanced scoring, undefeated this year, and they are the defending champs, etc.
Right now, they are the best team! 8)

Edina is loaded and a very good team. If I were Edina fans, I would be very worried about even getting to state to backup their claims of being the best. Yes, their schedule is tough, and so is their section, I would be very anxious as a hornet fan... 8-[

Amos here is the only guy I agree with.

No, Roseau hasn't played any top 10 teams. So what? They didn't play any at state last year and walked away with the title! All they need to do to repeat is 1st get there, and 2nd, have teams like Rapids and Century knock off the favorites. Like last year, the teams that knock off Edina and Minnetonka will be too gassed to give Roseau a match and they repeat! Simple really.

Roseau and Edina would make a great matchup in the final.
They are the two best teams in the state in my opinion.

Last year at this time I would say Holy Angels and Moorhead were the two best teams in the state.

We will see how it all shakes out.

It's not that easy to win when you are expected to.

Just ask New England.

They beat Grand Forks Red River, undefeated team and would easily be a top ten team in Minnesota.
