beau should've made his statement this year. the mr. hockey voting restarts every year because the award is based off a season basis. also it helps when you sign with the gophers.

if it goes to a Defenseman it will be Ness maybe Gardiner
Forward Will be JT Brown or Jake Youso
but im guessin Aaron Ness will win it...

Feinhage? WHAT. I know he is a good player and everything but he has had a pretty bad year. There are other players that are more deserving of this than him. But I guess since its mainly NHL scouts picking it I can see why.

Communities don't have private schools. I don't think there is a private high school north of Duluth.

Looks like they got the right 10.

Precisely. That's because communites don't have people, or at least enough to warrant alternatives.

You speaking out on the private school issue is like asking an Irishman about race relations involving black people. No matter what he says, it is impossible to give it much consideration when you find out he's never met a black person because there are none in Ireland.

I attended public elementary school, junior high, and high school. My son attends a Lutheran kindergarten because we feel his needs will be better met than at the public school option with an 18:1 student/teacher ratio.

If your kid is bullied violently in grade school it is nice to have a private school option.

If your kid buckles to peer pressure and winds up taking Oxycontin and getting messed up in a middle school drug scene it is nice to have a private school option.

If your daughter becomes pregnant as a young teen and gets a bad reputation it is nice to have a private school option where her past may not be as well known.

Public schools work well for the kids they work well for, but they clearly don't work for the others. I had lunch with someone from Montgomery last week and they told me there is no way I'd have my kids in the public schools there. Yes, it is nice to have private school options.

Move to Fort Lauderdale, Kansas City, or Fresno, raise a family, and THEN explain how every kid needs to attend the public school they are zoned for and it carries a little more weight. Seriously, your screen identity says you are from Erskine. Is that a township somewhere? I'm guessing life in Erskine doesn't resemble life in most of the world. And that's probably a good thing.

I'm surprised there aren't more instances of people moving out of populated areas. For whatever reason they are very rare.

I am not bitching or nothing, but who picks these players. Why would they choose Jokinen, nothing against him, but I have seen many player that have done more than him. Anyways good for him and good luck to him.

I agree with you that Frazer is a heck of a player, one of a couple that werent on the list, but i dont think you can flat out say he deserves to be on there over any of the ten. All of the ten are great hockey players and will all play at a good division 1 school in a yr or 2. as will frazer

Private schools are fine if they want the education or more secure environment if you feel it really is one, its just unfair how they recruit kids just to play hockey

WB, hey I understand how you feel. I always felt that way myself. However, the older I get the more I realize it isn't quite so simple.

Let's say a family from Mahtomedi has a very good hockey playing son and the families needs - educationally and extracurricularly - are not met by MHS. Do they have to MOVE (assume a homeowner) in order to better their environment? That seems a bit much. I prefer they have an option to enroll at Hill-Murray, St. Thomas, or Cretin-Derham Hall if that fits their profile.

Now if you don't think it is fair that a place like Holy Angels pilfers off just the top players from programs and fields a super-club I can't argue. People never agree on what is and isn't fair. I've stopped trying to use that word. The trite equivalent is "life isn't fair". And it's not. (It also isn't unfair. Important I feel that people understand that.)

Edina lost good players for years and now they have their own Edina kids on the HS team. All of St. Paul has lost players to Hill over the years. More recently Benidle, Breck, Holy Angels, and St. Thomas have been strong. Since I don't see public schools ever losing only non-athletes to private schools it makes more sense to me to cope rather than complain.
