The game is meant for players that performed ALL year, not just a few games. Jamnick and Decenzo and Sandstrom sparked the jackets, not Vechell. Wagner and McConkey are as good as Vechell.

Sandstrom really got hosed. Who picks these teams anyway?[/i]
Sandstrom hasn't performed all year, heck, he finally got the starting position a couple of weeks ago. The only spark Decenzo gives is when Hibbing plays a crap team and he can rack up his points.

We all know how these things work, similar to the elite league, did'nt Denfeld have a pile in there, and Greenway a couple. Look at who's coaching the teams, oh ya! Denfeld & Greenway, So you know some good players won't be there. And Superior, why don't they leave them in there own State. If it's an All-Star game chose the best, if it's a senior All-Star game choose the best seniors. If it's neither, Drop it, who wants to watch it if it's like last years drubbings! I'd rather watch east/cloquet/g.r. games. Maybe they should choose All-Star coaches also, did'nt one have a little time-out for being a bad bad coach.  Does anyone know who picks the coaches & players?

Greenway only has one player on the club and that is Al Guyer. He deserves to be there.

Why is one of these games played in Eveleth? They don't even draw a hundred fans for their own home games. I went to the CCM game there two years ago and aside from parents of players and out of town fans, the place was nearly empty. Move it to where there might be some interest from the local fans, so the kids have a decent crowd to play in front of. Hibbing or Grand Rapids would be a much better site.

Of the four Denfeld players there isn't one that doesn't deserve to be on there. Chris Stafne and Jake Johnson are the two leading scorers on either team. Skurich has great numbers with a sv pct of .907 and about 2.6 GAA or so. Trent Johnson is a very talented defensemen who has lead Denfeld to one of their better D cores in years. As stated above: there is only one Greenway player on the roster.

Smalley is also a great coach. Look at Denfeld's records in the previous years before he came around - they were winning maybe 7-10 games a year. Since he's started coaching they've never had a losing season; winning 15, 16, 18 , and 14 games so far this season. He has really turned the program around and there is no denying that.

What has he done against a good team this year? All of his big games are against teams that are no good, he's a good player but needs to prove himself if he wants to play at the next level.

i think that the defence for duluth is stronger and the forwards for both are very good but i think that duluth has them beat on that too.. and looks like mausolf gets to play at his former rink again at the hipp..i wonder if he'll get any boo's or if they will still support him

mausolf and boese both are from eveleth, good kids both of them, mausolf could have waited to make this team until his senior year. flaherty should have nominated his seniors before younger players, like randolph has ALWAYS done over the years

Hey NikeBauer if Sandstrom hasnt played a good team, then why did he only allow 1 goal against IFalls then. Lets see some more good teams, against Mound Westonka he only gave up 1, Virginia 1, and Rapids 1. Those are pretty solid scoring teams right there. So I myself give him the credit he deserves.

No one has answered my question on how these teams are picked. Puck Ranger, you seem to be a expert on everything hockey, any idea?

Still, Vechell doesn't deserve to be there. He has done nothing to justify his selection or nomination. How can you honestly put him on the team when he has played so few games? What does that say to the other players that have been playing a full season? This game should only be for seniors like the old maroon and gold. This is the third year for Jamnick and Decenzo and Youso as well which isn't right.

Leave the game for the seniors and let the underclassmen wait their turn.

I believe coaches are sent a form to nominate players they think deserve to play, and rank them 1-4 for example, then they are sent to other coach's to vote . They are NOT allowed to vote for their own players. Top kids are then picked to play in the CCM game. Very fair process

This will br Jamnicks first year in the game. Two years ago he played bantams. Last year he was not in the game.

And they still lost to Mound, Virginia isn't that good, when did he give up one to Rapids, I must have missed that game? He gave up 6 to Minnetonka, 6 to a good Roseau team, 4 to Cloquet. Sure he is playing good now but he is shaky. I'm still looking for the Rapids game where he gave up one though?

And after looking, he gave up two to Mound and they lost.. better check the facts before postin.

wagner and mcConkey? ..... maybe mack estey is as good as him but not the other two. vechell is one of the most solid defensemen i have watched this year and there is no doubt why he is playing in these two games. oh and people who know hockey picked these teams to answer your question. You can tell vechell is an allstar if you watch him play maybe not if you look at stats because he was hurt for most of the year

Any chance Hanegmon might be put on the team if Decenzo leaves for juniors?

Is this one of these games which are MSHSL sanctioned so the kids don't lose eligibility for spring sports?

Nike-Bauer:

You are quite hippocritical. You pick on Sandstrom because he hasn't played well all year, but yet Vechell has done nothing in the few games that he has played and he is an All-Star? Sandstrom won the Rapids game, won the Falls game, and Virginia. If it wasn't for him, no matter how great Vechell is, they would not be on the role that they are on right now.
As far as the coaches picking the players, I wouldn't say that there is a stellar group of coaches in the North picking the teams. Hendrickson, Prettyman, Decenzo (not Pete), and Larouque are the top four in no particular order.

I doubt his dad would have nominated him if he was not planning on participating. I'm guessing he'll be playing.

I'm just saying that he has had his ups and downs. Vechell has 2 goals and 4 assists since he's been back, most points for a defensemen playing for Hibbing besides Estey. Maybe Sandstrom's play has something to do with having some solid defense in front of him now? This game is a big joke anyways.
