#27 Singerhouse got a 10 minute major for checking from behind with about 4 minutes left if that's what you meant. I was sitting about 5 feet from the hit and it didn't look worthy of making him sit for a game.

They called a minor penalty (a 2 and 10) versus the 5 minute major variety. I'm not trying to make the argument that Moorhead was somehow cheated or that HM didn't deserve to win the game, but I was pretty disappointed in the officials. Can't let game situations affect a call like that when kids can and do get hurt on plays like that.

I think they did it so he would be tossed from the game, and not able to play in the next game.

Moorhead played well, I think Hill was the better team tonight. The Refs could have called a better game......Moorheads third goal should not have been allowed. Moorhead should have been called for interference on the Hill defense. Moorhead scored on the play. I think Hills third goal which came on another questionable penalty call, so these two bad calls wash each other out. Moorhead lost the game when they failed to capitilize on the 5-3......Congrats to Hill. Good luck in Sections.
side note.....Hills Tyler Zepeda sp? still recovering from groin injury was on the ice but still a bit slow. He could have helped against Moorheads speed. I also agree Hills defense lacks experience/skill but I saw they were for most of the game playing only 4 defensemen.

Spar,

My comments to you were early in the year. I thought the emotions were a tad premature given where we were at in the season. I also thought that Hill would gradually improve & tighten things up (especially on D). That hasn't happened. The team just relies too much on individual talent and hasn't developed enough, in my eyes.

I'm hoping you are correct & just based on pure talent, Hill makes it thru sections. Can't help but be impressed with what Roseville has done down the stretch in playing good defense, solid goaltending, and scoring enough to get by. Play-off hockey.

Rest up Boys & go get it!

I agree the refs were a little off in this one, but it did go both ways. Moorhead's third goal should have been a penalty at the line as you said and the hit in the corner was a 5 minute major and the reason I don't think they called it was because of where they were in the game. Early in the second, that's a major penalty. It was a stupid hit in the offensive zone by a Hill player. Since it went both ways, it is easier to overlook...

The penalty on Singerhouse was called checking from behind. The penalty for that was changed a few years ago to 2 and 10 not a 5. I was standing by where the hit occured and I agreed with the call.

Two things about this game suprised me:
1. There were not more fans in the crowd
2. HM is ranked so highly

I was also surprised about the lack of attendance. I spoke to some co-workers and they said most of Moorheads youth teams are playing in districts in other cities this weekend......add that to Moorheads up and down play over the season could account for the seats being empty.
As for HM being ranked so highly......they are a good team. Moorhead played well last night, or just consistently well. I have not looked at HM schedule, is this perhaps the furthest they have had to travel and play? For some teams this is difficult to overcome. Your legs feel like Jello.

Last night wasn't Hill's best game. The defense played worse than usual and Hill took a lot of dumb penalties. However, it does say a lot about the team that they won even when not playing there best.

If there is an injury, I think its 5 and game.

I didnt think it was a penalty from watching it on TV. The Spud defensemen was fiddling with the puck along the boards with his back to everybody.

Whats the forechecker supposed to do... tap him on the shoulder and say "Can I please have the puck".

It was a check from behind but it wasnt a dangerous play and the Spud player turned his back to it.

i saw the replay from TV and it sure looks like Singer was going for the shoulder of the Spud and the Spud turned at the last second and Singer got all back.
