East most likely to go but there are 4 or 5 other teams that could spoil the hounds chance of making it back to state.

Look at the list. 3 north and 6 south. I expect "northern section" stuff from Ironheads and Cloquidiots, not the fine Brainerd fans.

Its not Anokas fault, Forest Lakes fault, Andovers fault, Elk Rivers fault, Cambridges fault, St. Francis's fault, nor the MSHSL's fault. If you can get 8-9 teams in the north to go AA, do it. Otherwise shut up about this being a "northern" section.

That is exactly the problem. Between schools which have dropped down to Class A and other schools which choose to stay in Class A, there is a shortage of Class AA teams. Unless you want to incorporate some Canadien high schools into the MSHSL, where else are the schools going to come from? It's a problem which will only be slightly alleviated when the Red Plan in Duluth closes Central and Denfeld is forced by enrollment back up to AA. But even then, it's a temporary fix. Too much "Big Fish/Small Pond" mentality.

I think it will be between Rapids and East. If Roy, Rendal, and Underwood can play at the top of their leval, i think they have a great chance.

the last time that east won the state title was 1998, and do you know the only team to beat them that year was Grand Rapids. Unless you count the games they had to forfiet for the Reese Carlson scandle.

You are correct If, the answer is Anoka!!!!
Anoka was in 4AA that season. I was referring to the last time the winner of 7AA won state.

But here is a brutal stat; the last three times the 7AA rep made the state finals, they lost by a combined score of 18-1.

Lee
Sounds to me like you're picking on our orange and black here. :) Rapids did beat the number one seed the last two years at state and this is not meant to sound like an excuse, but they have also had to play the late game during the semi's both years. The late game winner of the semi's typically does not do very well in the finals. Maybe someone out there knows the stats regarding this trend.

Actually, I was picking on Rapids and East, since the Hounds played a part in that particular statistic. Blaine beat them 6-0 in the 2000 final.

Also, I'm not attempting to minimize the fact that simply making it to the State Final is one heckuva feat. Personally, I'd rather get to the final and get punked than not get there at all.

I'm expecting a 5-7 goal margin, though I wouldn't complain if East got more. :D I'm generally opposed to running up scores, but in the playoffs that ends.

The News Tribune today said East is playing Cambridge in every mention of the game. I'm assuming this is a misprint, but no matter what it doesn't change my prediction any.

All it takes is finding the animated graphic you want to use and then linking it using the "[img]" tag. Most sites allow it. A few (Tripod?) do not because linking to an external image does two things:

1. Increases bandwidth on Mitch's site.
2. Increases bandwidth on the host's site.

The problem is minor when it's a small image. Larger images can be a problem, especially for those who (gasp!) are stuck with a dial-up connection. My brother's, for example, is brutal and he lives in an area where the only alternative is a satellite modem. He had one for awhile and the service/reliability was crap.
