Sorry to be redundant, but I have to say Hopkins. It isn't always pretty, but they get it done and thats all that counts. Too bad they got stuck with minnetonka in sections.

there's a lot of teams that are surprising this year. mankato west stands out to me and this is why. they have progressively gotten better throughout the past 4 years but now that 5 of their seniors have played for 4 years now.
-they've jumped the rankings to top 10 team on a lot of them.
-their top two scorers are in the top 5 in state.
-in a tougher section this year and made it further than last year when they were in a weak section. play lourdes thursday for a trip to state.
if they can make it to state it hink they can possibly do some damage.

Have to say that I Falls was somewhat a surprise. With the departure of Hjelle, i dont believe too many people expected them to have 23 wins on the season.

Duluth Denfeld was a surprising team to me. I saw them play in Roch over Xmas break, and they are in their section final, and beat quite a few good teams throughout the season. It's good to see that the Hunters have rebounded from a few down years..

In Class AA, i have to go with Hopkins. After losing Fink i dont think anyone saw them being as competititive as they were this year.
In Class A, I thought South St. Paul had a solid year after a couple years of being a dwellar team. They suprised me with the amount of games they won this year

Rosemount. They have skilled players but I had not heard of them until this year and Rosemount usually gets walked over in the Lake Conference but have had a very successful year, hope to see them at state

Rosemount is not a surprise. Anyone who has followed that age group from squirts on knows this group is very good. Even though they lost Sainty and Walters they have a very skilled group. If they would not have been successful you would really wonder about the Rosemount high school program.
