This is just going by the press clippings....
Blaine has the speed and depth at forward to match up with the RAMS...ithey proved that in the 1st meeting...if Nick Carson hadn't left...they'd of had the D to match up too...the RAMS do have a clear edge in goal...but anything can happen in HS hockey...I predict a 1 or 2 goal game...the Rams should win...but its no cinch...Good Luck to the Bengals...here's hoping you SHOCK the rams and come out on top.

Both these teams aren't very good and wouldn't have made it out of some of the tougher sections.

Roseau is a very creative team. Those conditions the first time they played limited their ability to play their style of game.
I think Roseau wins this one 5-1.

Should be decent game but I give Roseau the big upper hand with a 5-1 win. The play will be dominated by Roseau but Blaine sneaks one in early.

Roseau has experience on their side. They have been there and won before and know what it takes. I think they have one of the best goalies in the state and Blaine has a decent team but not one that can beat Roseau.

How can a previous meeting prove nothing? it wasn't just the conditions that slowed roseau , it the work ethic and heart that did it. the bengals have showed they can keep up with the rams and this should be a great game.Neutron 14 wrote:The first meeting proved nothing. Didnt both teams have the same conditions to play under at Baudette... or were the rams required to wear weight vests during the game? Tons of respect to Roseau, but watch out, you may get more than you bargained for. When I watched the outdoor game, both teams had to battle the same elements

I'm always a bit of a pessimist, since I grew up in the 1960's and would see my Rams go to state every year (nine years in a row) only to lose at some point. I was a senior in 1971, and watched them lose 1-0 to Edina in the championship. They did win in 1961, but I barely recall that. As a middle-aged adult, (I am now 54) I have enjoyed seeing them have success at the state level.
I hope they get by Blaine, if for no other reason than to see how they perform against HM and Edina or Benilde. I don't think anyone has a more talented team than the Rams. This team has as much or more depth than any Ram team I have seen.

I think Centennial would have matched up very well against Roseau, but they got poor goaltending in the finals and Blaine deserves to be there.
Roseau should have no problem getting to the title game. In that game who knows what will happen.

Blaine will be their toughest challenge to get to the title game. After seeing how HM matched with moorhead Blaine will clearly be the toughest test for Roseau. Gotta win the first one before the second one though. They would have had no prayer against the Rams...There is no question who the best team was out of section five, and rogers might have been the second best team behind the Bengals. Blaine as mentioned above will give the Rams a good hockey game. Let the game play out and then we can talk about it!

The '99' Championship team had two D1 players, on the 4th line, who are now playing in the ECHL. Tough to beat that depth. I see the Bungals going down by a score of 5-2. The Bungals will sneak a quickie in right away to shock the Rams, and add an extra attacker goal with 20 seconds left to make it 4-2. Landman then gets the 5th Ram goal via EN for the 5-2 win.

I give Blaine a chance, its small but there is a chance, and yes both teams had to play against the wheather the first time, however it goes against the rams type of hockey more then against the way Blaine plays. Roseau wants to use its speed and move the puck with sharp passes and in that game on that ice they couldnt, I was THERE, the way it looked on TV is nothing compaired to how it really was there. No wind and bad ice to bounce the puck all over and Blaine will be chaseing Roso all game, like I said before its close til the 3rd then Roso pulls away, 6-3
