South doesn't have any offense, do they? That be their stigma.
Or any solid defenders, besides their great goalie.

If Hill can hit the net

South does have some solid D. Hofstad is a very good defensemen and then Binder and Burnes are pretty decent. A fast team could definately beat them because other than Hofstad they are pretty slow but they do a pretty good job. The best thing they do is they dont let teams take alot of shots from the slot.
On the offense, they dont have any one guy who does a ton of scoring they have two lines that have done it for them.

I thought Hill played very well last night in all positions. The one thing that they need to improve upon is hitting the net. There were way too many missed scoring opportunities because shots went wind of the net. I think about 5 or 6 of those could have gone in had they been on target.
Another area where I think Hill has the advantage is the strength of multiple lines. Lakeville will not be able to just focus on shutting down one or two forwards.

paying off the tourney officials to land LS won't turn out like the pioneers expected.

i would love to see hill lose again this year but its probably not going to happen. they got the best draw out of all the teams, look for them to have an easy win before the loss to Roseau.

Hill is the clear favorite and should win, but it won't be a large margain.
My guess would be that the shots will be something like 40-45 for Hill and maybe 15-20 for LS. However, Hawk will keep them in the game if he controls his rebounds and his defense let him see the shots.
LS's D are not fast, but they are strong. If they take away the middle of the rink and let Hawk make the easy saves, it could be a one goal game.
My guess would be Hill 3 LS 1.
This could be the upset special if the Pioneers take them lightly. It will be interesting to see who plays well late at night, as this game rarely starts on time.
LS has three even lines, but none are spectacular. However, they have one line that can really beat you up in the corners. I like how #13 Binder jumps into the play and creates offense. If he gets a chance with Cass, they could score on a quick strike.

Time to prove that Phillippi does not deserve the Brimsek. Yumuslakar will show him how net-tending is done. However, Hill is a very good team all around. This game will come down to D and net. I give Hill the edge 4-2

So we're back to the garbage thing again, isn't that nice. Hill could/should runaway with this one but that hardly makes LS garbage. Is it so hard to get past the section 1AA thing that it becomes neccesary to rip the team that qualified. Hockey(3) are you a true expert or just an average fan who's opinion could thus be considered garbage? No one and I mean no who has the least bit of class would go out of their way to mock a group of kids that did nothing more than win 3 games to qualify to play in a tournament. No question LS is a true long shot but get off their back.

Though Lakeville South isn't in the same league as Hill-Murray talent-wise, they do have a hot goalie in Yumusalkar and a very physical team. If anyone was going to come out of 1AA and have a shot at an upset, it would be them. I expect them to come out and play a very hard, solid game, but even that likely won't be enough since they'll be outshot by so much. I wish I could pick an upset, but no.

Lakeville South is the biggest joke ever. I thought Hill got a free pass last year when they got to play Rochester and they blew that. I can't imagine them blowing an even bigger free pass this year.

Lakeville is lucky to get Hill in the draw. Other teams would have slaughtered them by at least 6 goals. Hill will only beat them by 4 with a final score of 5-1. Lakeville South should not be in this tournament. They have just over a .500 record and teams like Minnetonka, Burnsville and Rosemount deserve it a lot more. I hope that they get embarassed for being there but think they were lucky to get Hill and will at least make it respectable.
Congrats LS on being in the ONLY section without a top 20 team and making it to State. Wow...it must have been difficult to get by Dodge County and all the others. Way to go MSHSL...great sectional changes this year!!

biggest joke ever? I guess the 16 or 17 years you've lived qualifies as ever. Maybe your post is the dumbest ever? If Hill were to somehow lose this game would they then become even worse than the worst ever?.................. whatEVER

Posters should remember that it's the "State Hockey tourney" Not the top Eight tourney
Section 1AA is set up to represent the South...you can argue with Lakeville being in that section, but you can't argue that section being represented
having said that the best team from secttion 1AA deserves their moment as much as any other section.
South has a great goalie in Hawk, but they also do have solid D, anyone who has seen them play should also notice that Hawk because of his style and his size gives up a ton of rebounds and Souths D has helped to keep opposition away from rebounds and cleared many rebounds, they also help to force alot of outside shots that lead to great stats for Hawk.
Defensively, South is solid
Offensively they will struggle, but they do have some guys who have scored and assisted in big games and nobody has ever talked about them....Simon and Haglind
If Webber doesn't handcuff his team by over playing his own kid...South has a chance...a very good chance to give Hill all they can handle.

Hill won't lose. Lakeville South should just be lucky they don't have to play Edina or BSM or they would get embarrassed.

Hello from St. Kitts my kitties. While it is 80 degrees here, it is a bit overcast with the trade wind blowing through. Still nicer than Minnesota I warrant. I've checked, they don't get channel 45 here and I forgot to buy a slingbox before I left. That said...
I like Hill's chances here (not a shock I know), mostly because of the returning tourney experience of these kids. For a team with only 3 losses on the year, no one is giving Hill any respect (sound familiar South fans)? So Hill can play that card too. They have shown the ability to win close games this year and I think that will happen here. Hill pulls out a close game 4-2.

Sparlimb, you can watch the game on the internet. Go to (B2TV.com). It will cost you $10. per game, or $50 for the entire tourney. Stay away from those topless beaches.

Lakeville South sounds like they are very similar to the team hill played on friday: they dont have much offense, okay defense, and a goalie that can keep them in the game.
If they can finish more than they did on friday they will win easily

How come people think that if South played Benilde they would get embarassed but if they play Hill they won't. I remember that Hill beat Benilde in the regular season.

Hill will destroy LS. LS does not have enough speed or depth in the lines to win this one.
