If you're wondering that because they beat STA, you should really be asking why Warroad didn't get the #1 seed. Sure, DM beat STA 8-2. But Warroad beat Cathedral and DM, so by your logic Warroad should really be the #1 seed.
The Warroad win over DM wasn't an 8-2 victory. it was a 16 second fluke.

Last year Hermantown getting the #1 seed with their joke schedule and didn't have to play a tough team until the final. Cathedral's been up and down this season. St Thomas and Roseau could possibly not have a tough game til the final this year.
Little Falls was up 3-2 on em at the end of the second, im just guessing that was a tough team for them?
HS"do you really watch hockey"hockeywatcher...I believe H'town was down at the end of 2 periods in both the quarters and semi's last year...and outshot in semi's...yeah, cake walk to the final

You have to beat a city team by at least 8 to count for anything. Sheesh get with the program buddy

That's assuming that it actually was a fluke. That's an assumption. What if I were to assume that the 8-2 DM win over STA was a fluke.

it was a fluke, they scored with 16 seconds then a questionable buzzer beater, i dont want to have to repeat myself, but George Blanda is a tool.

Nobody can say 8-2 is a fluke. What if I were to assume that G. Blanda is a tool.

I'd rather play the fact card than the assuming card and the fact card says that Warroad beat DM. Call me a tool all you want, just callin' it how I see it.

ok but marshall shouldn't think the game will be a blowout...fluke or not warroad is a good team and they will fight hard to make it to the ship

kickshot, I didn't say they had a cakewalk to the final, I said they didn't play a tough team til the final. Just because they didn't do well with the draw they were given doesn't make my statement less true. In my opinion, it reinforces my belief they didn't deserve the #1 seed.

The #1 seed could have gone either way. Marshall is obviously a good squad, and came to Mendota Heights with a chip on their shoulder. The 8-2 game is a bad example of how good either team is. STA is obviously better than that score reflected and Duluth Marshall is not "running time" better than STA. What that game does prove is that if STA doesn't bring their A-game in the championship (providing the both get there) Marshall is capable of rolling them. We are splitting hairs now, because both Marshall and STA are the two best teams on paper in Class A. Also, my two cents.....all 8 teams should be seeded.

I think its a conspiracy to prevent another all-northern final.

Swap Marshall and STA and you have a real chance of that if Warroad were to knock off STA in the semi's.

Exactly, They don't want two northern schools in the finals. Little Falls is far enough north for me come tomorrow. Couture will have the boys ready to spring an upset.

Some of you northeners have too much time on your hands up there. Maybe you have watched a few too many episodes of X-Files. There is no conspiracy against northern teams. Most northern teams are the pride of Minnesota. Basically, the hierarchy of high school hockey teams goes as follows in this state.....your own school(alma mater), any public northern school(Warroad, Roseau, Virgina, etc), any metro public school(Woodbury, White Bear, etc.), any perennial power public school(Edina), then Duluth Marshall, and then any metro private school(Hill, STA, etc..). That is the order that teams are supported around Minnesota. For northerners to cry foul is silly. I hope Warroad, Roseau, Cloquet, Little Falls, and Duluth Marshall all have a good tourney. It is good for hockey. Stop making excuses before a single game is even played. Let's have some fun and see who ends up on top.
