You're freaking stupid. God forbid the kids have enough ambition to express interest in other parts of their life besides hockey.

OMG they're doing both?!?!? UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

Are Oliver, Knochenmus, Lee and Landman seriously in band?

If you are seriously asking, the answer is yes. Forgive me if I am not picking up on some sarcasm here. Hockey players are typically overachievers and excel in lots of extra programs, not just sports and hockey. I assume it is this way at all schools. Roseau rescheduled a varsity hockey game this year because it conflicted with a band concert.

What do they play?

Someone else should help me out who lives up there. Pretty sure Lee plays trombone and Landman trumpet. I heard last year. I think most of them play some type of brass instrument. For pep band performances they are missed.

Marshall School's pep band has some nasty looking windbreaker jackets. Gotta do something about that.

Triangle, blocks, oh and Landman plays some great moraccas (good hands...)... Just kidding everyone, I don't want to get in trouble here...

I think its pretty cool that these kids have fun interests outside of hockey and that we hear about them!

This weekend at the X, I will keep an eye on the locker room ramps for the group of them to run out to join the band in between periods...

Priorities might be in the locker room this week

It's a small school, who do you think is in the band? Go to a small school football game sometime, half the marching band at halftime are wearing pads. I guarentee you there is a better chance of making money playing music than hockey, also the top musicians earn way more than the top paid players in the NHL.

Is Eric Clapton a nerd? I could go on but you get the point.

I was pointing out that HMs crowd was far less than the other 4AA crowds I saw. If you're claiming that HM outdrew those other schools during the regular season, I'll take your word for it (although I find it hard to believe against WBL, but I wasn't there). I'm telling you from what I've seen over the last couple of years from the games I've been to, it's a very small crowd every time - and from what I've seen, it appears as though about 70% of the crowd they do have are parents and family. I'm not knocking parents and family showing up for a game, but if they're outdrawing the students, that's a problem.

And going back to your original post... Don't misunderstand what I said about them -I gave the HM band credit. I think it's cool that they showed up. No other bands in 4AA did through the first 2 rounds (I didn't make the section finals, so if WBL didn't bring theirs, change my post to say "3 rounds").
WB had more people every time they played HM this year, including at the Schwann's Cup at the X when HM had ZERO students at the game. Also, WB doesn't bring a pep band because we don't have one right now, but might have one back next year.

Pep band

I saw Roseau's jazz band at a jazz clinic in January and about half the band were wearing Roseau Rams Hockey jackets. Most of them are on the baseball and football team, as well.

as someone who's involved with music a lot, i can say that just being involved in music does have a lot of benefits.
my personal favorite being that I actually get to see some games at the X

L-D-C didn't do much on the ice but had the best band. Anybody who can throw out "Tear the Roof off the Sucker" and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" gets my vote! SCC also did "Tear the Roof Off..." Also, props to the SCC kid makin' like Bootsy on the electric bass. Note to all bands.................please leave "The Final Countdown" in the folder!!!!!!!!

I think everyone must admit there going to miss hearing the Rapids band. The last two years they had the best and are stiil the best. They should be down there as a house band.

I am embarrassed by the cheerleaders so far in this state tourney. NONE of them are skaters. They all look like they're basketball cheerleaders who are only cheering for hockey because they're at state. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the awesome cheerleaders here up north...I Falls and Greenway...

They don't call Roseau the "Best Band in the North Land" for nothing.

All these post about bands, everyone forgot about the cheerleaders.
Plain fact, most schools with girls hockey are losing thier cheerleaders that can skate.
